Pros:

9 good baskets placed on nice terrain in a scenic setting. The course area was grassy and mowed, with just enough trees to keep it interesting. Holes were shorter but offered varied distances, and even a pond to cross on the final tee shot. For me the best line off the tee was a well-rounded mix of hyzers, straights, and anhyzers, though each hole definitely has multiple options and routes without getting in too much trouble.

Navigation is fairly easy as each tee box was clearly numbered. I was given a large detailed color map of the grounds at the check-in, which clearly showed the 9 disc golf holes on it also, so a nice course map and then some.

It rates around a 1.75 for me having played over 325 courses, but that should not detract from the fact that it is definitely and appropriate level of difficulty for the type of person most likely to be there (campers, zip liners). Great course for first timers and families for sure, and it adds one more type of outdoor activity here, making for a pretty fun place for people to come visit.

And nice to have something in this area again since the nearby Tracy City Elementary course has practically been reduced to a 6-hole course on its deathbed.

Cons:

Tees were large frames but filled with gravel and sand, after my foot slipped and sank on my first 2 tee shots, I played the rest of the holes from the grass just outside the tee box.

Hole 5- though a forced anny for RHBH, the tee probably should have been moved out of the little corner and aimed more at the basket. (Thanks to the tips from the previous reviewers I knew about the potential problem of mis-throwing at basket 6 from tee 5.) I also think that hole could be made longer and extended to the next little group of trees, which would also put it closer to the next tee. (neither tees or baskets are concrete yet, so I suppose the course could evolve if they wanted to)

Other Thoughts:

This little 9 was fine to play, though I could play it easily with a driver, couple mids, and putter. I seemed to have a very similar experience to Shadrach and Wellsbranch shooting 4 under on my first go round, with some missed chances to do even better. However, I would play again here with my kids if we were camping and/or doing zip lines (which we just might in the future). Yet there is soooo much more room here to have 18 holes, and a monster 18 at that, if so desired with all the woods, ponds, and fields everywhere.

When checking in I was told there was no charge to play if you had discs, and they had some for rent for a fee, but I did have to pay $5 + tax for daily parking (though I got the feeling that a different worker there might have waived the $5 just for disc golfers- no big deal though, it is a private course).

Baggenstoss Farms is home to Big Foot Adventures, so the 2 are essentially synonymous. And I was going to come here anyways while doing some hiking nearby, but at the state park office, my wife noticed a tourist brochure for this place because they had a picture of disc golf featured right on the front! Their webpage also features disc golf as a featured activity, so there is potential for exposure to disc golf to more people- cool!

To Bag and Toss 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

(1.662 Rating) An easy going niner with a pleasant looking atmosphere.
- FUN FACTOR - Considering this course is going to get most of its play by guests of the campgrounds, it likely was wise then to make this a fun loving easygoing experience. The fairways are very wide and were well mowed for my appearance. The odds of losing a disc is low and aces can be had by Novice level players.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - Piling on from the pro above, this course should not overwhelm most newer players. Except for the pond element on hole (9), the course is very beginner friendly. Discs are available to rent for $2 at the clubhouse.
- QUICK PLAY - I bag n tossed this one in less than 30 minutes. Groups of four will take around an hour.
- AVAILABLE - This course is playable even if you are not staying here. Players must sign a waiver at the clubhouse. Surprisingly free to play.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - I scored this aspect a tick above average, compared to all the courses I've played as of this review, (432). The best aspect is the maintenance with the wide mowed areas and backdrop woods. On the flipside, you can see RVs the whole time while out on the course.
- CHAINS - Not top-of line but still good quality Patriot baskets.
- EXPANSION POSSIBILITIES - This is a 100 acre property with ponds, creeks, heavy woods and rolling elevation. If the owner were to ever bring in a professional course designer and drop 100k, the result could be a 4.5 rated course.

Cons:

A young course that needs a finishing touch.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - I personally didn't feel challenged and threw 5 down on first attempt as an Intermediate level player. Although the distances aren't noted anywhere yet, I'll agree with previous review estimate and guess that they range from upper 100s to low 300s. The technical challenge is modest at best. Discs only have to avoid a couple trees on most holes and the last two don't even have a tree in play. Hole (9) is a water clear, but it won't ruffle the feathers of +875 rated players.
- HOLE VARIETY - Too lightly wooded and park style for my liking. All par 3s and minimal distance variation. There's lots of additional great land and water elements available if they ever decided to move things around.
- LAYOUT FLOW - I apparently played holes (5) and (6) incorrectly and I should have re-read the previous review before teeing off. The tee on (5) points almost directly at basket (6). Seems like an easy fix as the tee framing is not anchored. Please note that the course plays in a counterclockwise loop.
- TEES - I do like how easy the tees are to spot from a distance with the use of large heavy timber frames. However, the surface inside the framing is natural and slightly unlevel on a couple of them. Overall a very minor issue.
- NO COURSE EXTRAS - The course itself is just the pure basics of baskets and tees.
- SIGNAGE - Other than the first tee, nothing was marked on my appearance.
- PARKING - No parking by the start of the course. Tee (1) is about a 350 foot walk south of the clubhouse parking.

Other Thoughts:

I've known about this track for almost a year but never felt impelled to play here, because of too many unknowns. After Shadrach's review and posting of the course, I finally had some great information to go on and decided to make the trek up here. As for the course. it's playable and can sort-of feed the itch, but it's not going win the hearts of veteran traveling players like myself. Upon leaving, it felt like a 1.75 course to me and I'd give it that if we could rate by quarters. The holes and environment align well with my other 2.0 rated courses, but the lack of signage and overall completeness brought it back a touch on my spreadsheet numbers. No need for the destination course pilgrim to venture here, but for those in the Monteagle area, this course is clearly better than the school course just down the road. Please pm me if you know that the tees and signage have been addressed. I'll up the rating to a 2.0.
- NAVIGATION - Despite no signage and no map, I still easily got my way around the course. The next tees are generally close by, easily spotted and somewhat intuitive. Although, I did make a playing error as noted under my layout flow con. The navigation aspect becomes a pro with just simple hole number markings on baskets and tees.
