Much like “Top Gun: Maverick”, this sequel is way better than the original ;)

Pros:

The City of Green made the decision to re-locate the disc golf course at Boettler Park from an overgrown and secluded area to a much better piece of land on the other side of the park.

This move may have saved disc golf at Boettler Park. While this isn't going to be a course you go out of your way to play, it's still an enjoyable and forgiving track that is a huge improvement compared to its predecessor.

+ Each hole is equipped with concrete tee pads, colored tee signs, and DISCatcher baskets (which remain one of my personal favorites).

+ The new design makes great use of the scattered trees and occasional elevation changes while still being beginner-friendly

+ My personal favorites holes would probably be 1, 2, and 3. Honorable mention to 8 and 9 as well.

Cons:

- While most holes are very fun for being on the shorter side, there are a couple of holes that feel like fillers. #5 is definitely one of them.

- Tee signs are a little bit too close to the pads for right handed throwers.

- The baskets are still in pretty good shape, but they're over a decade old. Starting to show some wear.

- This would be considered a beginner level course, so advanced players likely won't have trouble shooting way under par.

Other Thoughts:

Boettler Park now has new life and will serve as a great intro to the sport for years to come!

Much Bettler 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 15, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

~Fun and approachable beginner style course
~Concrete tee pads and wooden post signs
~Easy to navigate with quick repeatable play
~Located near other attractive park facilities
~Well designed, can appeal to most players

Cons:

~Tee pads are not long enough for a traditional x-step
~Post signs are located near the top right corner of tee pads
~Layout is slightly cramped, can be an issue if course is busy

Other Thoughts:

The original 9-hole course at Boettler park was never good, and typically unplayable due to various reasons. It's great to see this park get an entirely new layout and put those old baskets to use!
The park offers a massive playground along with ample walking trails, basketball, volleyball, tennis & pickleball courts, and other playing fields. Permanent restroom facilities, pavilions and lots of parking. The addition of this "new" beginner style disc golf course is nestled perfectly within the park allowing it to maintain safe distances from other activities while still being close to most of the other park amenities.

The old Discatcher baskets were re-used and some are showing their age, but they still catch well. Short concrete tees allow for nice stand and deliver tee shots, but are detrimental for a full x-step drive. This is not a huge issue to the experienced player since most holes play as putter and midrange shots where a stand and deliver method is ideal. Nice tee signs on every hole, however their placement near the top right corner of each concrete pad is a head scratcher. I'm a left hand backhand thrower and though they don't pose a physical threat to my release they do distract you when throwing from the tee pad mentally and visually.

This is very fun shorter 9-hole course geared toward beginners and more experienced players who can play together and enjoy themselves. All of the holes (except #5) are imaginative and use the existing trees and elevation changes to create a good layout. Hole 5 is a wide open straight shot, which fits in fine on this course. Distances are reachable with Speed 6 fairway drivers on down to putters. Lines are fair and offer enough variety for repeatable play.

Navigation is straightforward, and the course flows just fine. If the park were crowded and the course had multiple groups playing at once there will be some bottleneck areas, but nothing of too much concern.

This new layout is sooooo much Bettler than the original Boettler course that had always been a complete debacle.
