Beautiful property and amenities almost used to perfection 2+ years

Pros:
Top notch concrete teepads, tee signs, and Chainstar Pros.
Multiple teepads on majority of holes.
Shot variety that takes advantage of former golf course landscape, trees, water, path and (manmade) elevation.
Shot shaping required on multiple holes and challenging pin positions add rigor to approaches and putts.

Cons:
Score separation is generally low. Tweener distances and abnormal lines reward luck more than good execution. Low ceilings are prevalent and coupled with elevated baskets there are lots of pitch and putts with very little opportunity to go for the birdie.
Other Thoughts:
As of the timing of this review the main entrance on the south side of the park is still closed. As a result players park in the neighborhood on the north side, follow the bike path and start on hole 7. This has led to a somewhat limited populated that has played the course and no tournament play to date to fully prove it out.
Overall the former Brock Park golf course has been transformed into a very good disc golf course. Easily the best baskets and teepads in Houston are installed here.
The holes offer good length and shot shaping while falling in the middle of park style course play and longer, more challenging championship level course. This in turn leads to the course's limitations as it does not have the rigor to challenge the higher level while even from the shorts is too difficult for lower level players.
Overall Brock is an enjoyable play that falls squarely on the very good territory with some hole design shortcomings that keep it from a 4.0 or greater rating.

Pros:
Brock Park might be the best new course I've played in Houston in a while (it doesn't hurt that a couple of the others were pulled within a year or two). It's on an old golf course and makes use of the land in the best ways. There are some tight lines, lots of open lines, and every hole has a nice shape to it. I never got up to the tee and was like, "well how are you supposed to-". I also appreciated that as a forehand dominant player, I had the option on almost every hole. But my partner I was playing with is backhand dominant and was just as comfortable on most holes. Very well balanced
The use of land here was great- many of the trees come into play, the nearby creek/water comes into play (if a little sneakily), there are baskets elevated by tall mounds, a couple slightly elevated tees- a lot of things you don't see a lot on the flat of the gulf coast.
The tees were full concrete pads, the tee signs were incredibly informative with distance and map, and the baskets were the new triple layer chain discraft baskets. Bright red too, which made them very visible from down the fairway.

Honestly there really aren't any big ones. Parking and walking is a little long. I had to park by hole 7 and start there bc of construction, so parking was super minimal. If you can't tell this isn't really a significant con though.
The grass can be a little long, very wet in the mornings. I dunno you know that I just need to put things here.
The blind water gets me a little. It's very avoidable but if you think you're in the rough just to see you're in the water that's quite disheartening.
Despite being a great course, well done for being on a ball golf course, I don't know if there's the extra greatness that other local ball golf courses have that really puts them on another level.

The other ball golf courses in the Houston area would be Evergreen, which is just a bit more epic, a touch more scenic, and a lot more water hazard. And Spring Valley which is 27 holes, pro shop, and also a bump up in design quality. I don't know what the rest of this property looks like, but I really think the designers did a great job with what I saw, and I didn't see anything glaring I would change.
This was a great course, and even looked a little popular from when i was there on a Monday morning. Which i'm just now realizing was Labor Day but I'd believe this course would get a lot of play anyway. Definitely worth hitting up if you want a nice mix of holes, and minimal risk of losing a disc.
