Pros:
- relatively clean and well mowed park
- brand new Innova DISCatcher baskets
- good size concrete tees
- some limited elevation change incorporated
Cons:
- no navigation aides at all, and wide open park lacks some directionality
- no tee signs/tee markers
- walk between 1 and 2 is unnecessarily long
- several holes very close to walking path, particularly basket for 8
- course ends a decent ways from hole 1
- very limited obstacles/almost entirely wide open
- not much in the way of amenities: no practice basket, garbage cans, benches, etc.
Other Thoughts:
This is a very new course and is pretty typical for a Chicago area suburban park. My hope is they are still updating it a bit and we'll see some tee signs and navigation aides, as right now it's a bit tough to navigate. Thankfully DGCourseReview has a map, because 1 and 2 have a huge retention area between them that isn't exactly obvious. I think this could have been designed a bit better.
The course seriously lacks challenge, although the tees and baskets are nice enough. It's serviceable for working on some things or for beginners, but will be pretty boring for even intermediate players. The only hole I felt had some real obstacles, hole 8, has you throw between 2 pine trees for a straight shot at the basket - but even then, it's only 142 ft. I think I landed within 10 feet of the basket, so it was still pretty simple.
The minimal elevation change here is well incorporated, though I wish the 9th hole ended a bit closer to the start. I kind of feel like this course was just put here to say the town had a course, and this was the land that was available. It isn't particularly well suited to disc golf. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the walking path hazards are a major concern. If the park is busy, you may either be waiting long times to throw or seriously risking hitting someone.
All that said, it's an ok place to get in a quick round. Unless I lived within 10 minutes or so, I wouldn't go out of my way to return.
