The drive in to Mackville and Camp Calvary is beautiful in the fall, the property is rolling and well kept, and the folks I met there today (Charles, Alan, and the family) were very polite.

The disc golf course is designed and intended for camp patrons and therefore caters to the casual to recreational player, with holes ranging from 145 to 275 feet in length. But don't be fooled, because they've incorporated the woods edges and gaps (from deciduous to pine), as well as the open 'bowl' around the pond to force shot selection to handle elevations and hitting some defined lines. There's even a rollaway green to watch out for.

With 18 chain DGA baskets on designated concrete pads, the course is pretty well set, and works counterclockwise from behind the main building, around the pond, and back down a loop on the other side of the property.

The tee areas are very hard to find. I only found one of the rubber (pitcher's mound) tee markers (on hole 5, where they'd installed a next tee sign. So that's the first reason you'll really want to know somebody there to show you the course.

The second, and most important, is that both Charles and Alan courteously accepted me dropping by, but looked a little bit uncomfortable, so I asked how they felt about the disc golf community playing their course. I let them know there were options to have it listed as private, maybe even 'requiring' calling ahead, certainly informing disc golfers that the course should be considered seasonal (with the summer camp youth out there). I listed all options, including changing the status to 'extinct' or 'unlisted'.

And Alan, who appeared to have given this some thought, and being worried about liability, said he really only wanted to have folks they know and/or approve in groups, out to play the course for the time being, and wondered if we would be so kind as to take down the listing.

So there you have it. If you know Alan, he's OK with you playing there, but if you don't, the course needs to be considered 'unlisted' for now. Sorry.

like course layout is fun course from beginner to experienced every hole is par 3 and can get a possible birdie on every hole can be a nice course for a pdga event

very well manicured year round.18 holes on beautiful camp land.very short holes ,but very fun to play with elevation changes and different shots needed.

tee's are marked with rubber pitchers strip., some can't be found very easy.

would love for the camp to have some one come and design a course here.and get concrete or rubber tee's.
