“You Know …For Kids!”

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 4, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

For the intended audience, this is actually an excellent little course, so hopefully, readers know when a course is built at an elementary school, and a trusted reviewer says it rates well …for it's intended audience… you'll know what to expect. Players above Novice level can still come out here with a putter or two and fine tune their ability to throw for aces, yet focus on being sure the deuces are tap-ins. And yet, they actually built in a little variety to these 121 to 206 foot long holes. Hole 1 incorporates a brick paved traffic circle that you could consider a generous island, hole 4 actually plays up a slight rise, with a guardian tree on the right, then hole 5 stretches the distance out just over 200 feet and has a small cluster of guardian trees, hole 7 plays into a shrubbery gap to a ridge top basket position, and hole 8 plays well uphill, with a huge tree reaching down with its branches to give you a second thought about your elevation on the tee shot.

Baskets are webbed Prodigies in a variety of colors, and each basket has a (mostly) accurate 'next tee' arrow underneath. You'll want these plus a map, because the 'tees' are just grass turf somewhere in the vicinity of the 18" concrete slabs (with the appropriate hole number indicated thereon) set flush to the ground (makes for easy maintenance). If it helps any, the tees at the back of the property are often near the low benches by the path.

Cons:

It's short. Please come expecting a 'putt-putt' experience. And don't come before 3pm on weekdays. The main page here says it's OK at 2:30, but don't come during the mayhem of student dismissal! I found it a little concerning that they aimed the longest hole toward the playground structures, the next hole across the corner of a paved play surface, and the tough uphill 8th across another.

Other Thoughts:

If you've seen 'The Hudsucker Proxy', you'll get the title reference. 😊
