1) Spacious public park course in Amarillo just off I-40 for those traveling through the area.

2) Wonderful mix of lightly wooded open bomber holes and some more moderately wooded technical short holes. Not enough to challenge pros, but difficult enough to challenge advanced players (in the long pin locations and from the long tees). While still being able to be somewhat novice friendly (not extremely beginner friendly as you will need some distance to enjoy your round here)

3) Nice Course Map Kiosk, Tee signs appear to have been updated and are new Dynamic Disc style full color signs with hole map, OB information, and show alternate pin locations. Two (long and short) large textured concrete tee pads, and newer looking DD Patriot baskets.

4) Excellent use of the terrain available throughout. Though subtle, the elevation is put to good use to help create unique shots and variety which keeps the course flowing well and avoids blandness.

5) Course flow is pretty intuitive, however there can certainly be times where it is difficult to find the next tee if you are playing the shorts. Lots of spray painted arrows pointing you where you need to go. They are there, you just have to be looking for them.

6) Ran in to some locals who stated the pin locations get changed often, so it keeps the course fresh and you can have a different experience each time you play it. We played from the long tees and there was still a variety of some short must get birdie holes coupled with some massively long a difficult to par holes based on the mix of pin locations. Definitely a challenging course set up that pumped the brakes occasionally which was nice.

7) Extremely busy park but the course design does a wonderful job keeping you away from it almost entirely. Ample parking and modern restrooms near Hole #1. You will throw over and next to some pretty heavily trafficked roadways through the park, but it didn't cause many issues or delays for us, even on a packed Saturday afternoon.

8) Couple signature holes to highlight, Hole #3 is the first signature hole you will encounter. A tight downhill Par 3 into a heavily wooded line of trees. You are given three skinny gap low ceiling options to navigate, a very tight left gap, a slightly large middle gap, and a seemingly open right gap that gets much tighter as you penetrate. You must hit the gap clean and clear a creek (that is blind from the tee and we had no idea was there) and land on the upsloped green on the other side of the bank, surrounded by trees and rocks just waiting to knock your disc back into the water. A wonderfully designed hole early in the round. However, it had some pretty significant cons as well that I will address below.

9) The next signature Hole to mention is Hole #15, a massive left to right severely downhill 515 foot Par 3. From the tee box you are at the highest point on the course and can see for miles. A pseudo top of the world shot. You can see the skyline of Amarillo in the distance, and just a great refreshing view overall. Add to it that you get to mash a disc off the tee and watch it soar down the hill to a beautiful carved White Ash tree with an elevated basket placed upon it. Maybe not the hardest or most well engineered hole on the course, but by far and away the most fun to throw.

1) FIRE ANTS!!! I don't visit Texas much and I'm not sure if this is common, but there are literal hundreds of Fire Ant mounds throughout this course. They are everywhere. I spent just as much time dodging those mounds and cleaning them off my discs as I did actually playing. I had my dog with me as well and it was a constant struggle to make sure he didn't accidently walk over a mound.

2) I'm told this course was built on top of an old Land Fill and it shows. There is broken glass EVERYWHERE. I do not recommend playing this course barefoot, in sandals, or bringing pets or kids with you. This is a huge con for me (and without this and the fire ants this course would actually rate really high as the design is wonderful).

3) The creek that runs through the center of the course is disgusting and filled with discarded trash. It smells horrible, and there is no bridge across when you play Hole #3. You have a bunch of broken concrete slabs to hop from. The water was up when we played, most of the stone slabs were either underwater or unstable. It was not pleasant to cross.

4) The course has underwent a redesign. As a result there are tons of abandoned tee pads (no tee sign, no indication if they are in use or not, very confusing as most are in direct line from the basket you just played). There was two hole # 15's as well, which made zero sense because they led off in opposite directions and neither was listed as A or B.

5) Entire course smells like sewage, especially on the front 9. It was well over 100 degrees when we played with little to no wind and it was difficult to stomach the smell for an entire round.

With the course being built on top of an old land fill, the broken glass, the fire ants, the smell, the polluted creek and all... I don't think there is much that the area could do to make this course better. Those things would probably prevent me from ever scoring this course higher, regardless of design. The hole designs are great for sure, but it's just too much. Unless you are trying to bag em all, leave this one alone and find something else in Amarillo.

Easy to navigate as most baskets are visible from the previous basket. Just off of the road if you are passing through Amarillo.

Amarillo can be windy often making it challenging for an accurate throw. The creek that runs through the park and along some throwing routes is pretty dirty and filled with trash.

It's the only course for miles. If passing through it is worth your time. This was the first disc golf course I ever played, but have no special affection for it.
