Very nice Swabian Alb track drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 2, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+Beautiful setting on the rolling hills of the Swabian Jura, about 30 min south of the Stuttgart airport. Plays through gorgeous meadows and forests.

+A lot of good hole designs with a mixture of shots. Holes #3, 3c, 10, 11, 12, 14 and 16 are particularly fun to play.

+Decent signs and good baskets. Tee pads used to be a major issue outside of dry summer months, but recent addition of turf on almost all tees has made this MUCH better.

+20 holes (although #18 is so rarely played due to being awful).

Cons:

-They have the space to make some par 4's and 5's but didn't do it. Kind of a shame. A little bit of a rework could see this space easily have a 4.0 or 4.5-worthy course.

-18 is a god-awful hole - horrendous tee pad (if you can even call it that), plays up a busy park road, tons of stinging nettles on the hillside that aren't present on the rest of the course, and a basket that just isn't reachable for anyone other than Eagle McMahon.

-A few filler holes - 4, 6 (somewhat), and 7 - but they still present interesting challenges. None of them are particularly easy birdies. But with how much space and awesome terrain they have to work with, it sucks that they have *any* filler holes to begin with.

Other Thoughts:

My recommended 18 (option on UDisc): play holes 1-3, 3d, 3c, and 4. Then combine 5 and 6 into a par 4 (5's tee to 6's basket). Then play 7-17 as normal. Skip 18. That's an 18-hole par 55. Frequently used in the club monthlies.

Use the second entrance if you're coming from Eningen (go past the Waldkindergarten). You'll drive just past 1's tee and 17's basket and then park in the shade.

They frequently close a couple of holes at a time in the summer to mow the lawn with sheep. Just be prepared.

Good Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 27, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course, though typical, I would consider to be very fun. It has all the dynamics but not to the level where you must be experienced to play. The baskets are in very good condition and the hole markers are very neat and readable. Once you find the First Tee, the rest of the course is fairly simple to navigate. The people that play this course range. A pretty nice drive from Stuttgart of around 35-45 minutes. I would suggest going on Facebook and looking up "Stuttgart DiscGolf Friends" to find some people to play with you until you know the course. The people in that group are also all very nice and awesome players.

Cons:

-No pro shop
-Bathrooms at Rest Home when open
-no trash cans (pack it out)
-Can get a bit muddy
I really have no complaints. I piss when I piss and I play all day.

Other Thoughts:

This is definitely a fun course. I would suggest it to anyone in the area to play. The directions can be very confusing getting there. In order for me to find this place I had to place on the GPS a bakery and then take the road up to the DG course. I will update the course directions shortly after this review.

All in all, people drive from 1.5 hours out to play here. Its a great course. I have no problem driving there to play. Go for it if you are in the area.

Good course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 27, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Well kept baskets, good signs, great mix of baskets and terrain. I was traveling to Stuttgart for work from the US and decided to see if any courses were nearby. This course is about 35 mins southeast of Stuttgart. It was more fun the second time I played.

Cons:

Tee boxes. They are mostly sand and loose gravel. Most times I threw deep in box to prevent rolling ankle on the gravel. I'd say the tall grass made it difficult to find my disc on a few holes, but the scenery is truly amazing so it's really hard to complain.

Other Thoughts:

If all holes had the same pad as 1 & 18, I would have rated it higher. It really is a good course of left and right shots but the tee boxes drop the rating.
