Park Course in a quiet area 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Decent Baskets
-Good Signage, including large map sign at start
-Mix of open and minor wooded
-Appears to have the park to itself

Cons:

-Slightly odd layout, take a pic of the map (or use the one here)
-Natural tees
-Buggy, swarms of them, lots of repellent
-A little off the beaten path

Other Thoughts:

Fayette DGC is a typical small town park course on the north side of Fayette, IA. The appears to be the only thing in the park and it was quiet, I think we saw only one vehicle drive by on our round. The last 5 holes are a little odd in placement. I think the designer was trying to get a little more distance on the holes. When you tee off of #5, you can see 3 baskets. You're headed to the middle one (we shot at the right one first off). Hole #9 crosses back across the #7, 6, and 5 fairways. Not an issue unless there are other groups playing. There is some room to the right of the #8 fairway that could have been used to maybe not have the crossing patterns and add some interest with a lightly wooded area to work around (mostly just used a bit on #8). There are a couple of blind shots that turn left (#2 and #4), but mostly a straightforward set of lines to baskets. A nice amateur course as long as you pack the bug spray. The Vogla river meanders along the south edge of the park for a good bug breeding ground. Not tough to get to, but a little off the beaten path off the old highway 150 and a couple of quick turns just north of town. Add some concrete tee pads, maybe redesign those last 5 holes to add to the rating. It was a reasonable course, nothing too difficult, but quick and kind of fun. I might play again, if in the area.

Flat, Open, Short Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 26, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is a course map sign right when you pull in!

Every hole has a tee sign that is easy to spot right after you finish the previous basket.

Good mix of open shots along with some trees for a challenge along the way.

Cons:

No actual tee pads, just use the grass by either side of the sign.

No restroom. No trash cans.

Bugs are bad, spray is a necessity.

If the course were to get busy, many holes play on top of each other so flying discs could be an issue.

A few baskets are too low/a little bent.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good course for beginners! So much improvement in the last five years as there weren't even signs in 2015. Advanced players can ace chase and get some easy 2's, but will not get too excited about this one.
