Pros:

-Concrete tees (see cons)
-Baskets OK
-Quiet city park, upkeep of park is good
-I fixed the map

Cons:

-Small tees
-Tee signage minimal (and missing on #3 and #5)
-Hazards on many holes with ball field, playground, sidewalks, and streets in play
-Looks like no one had done any upkeep on DG course in a while

Other Thoughts:

Firebird DGC plays in a small town park in the middle of Coulter, IA. The park covers 2 square blocks with the course utilizing most of this space. The new #1 shoots from just south of the gravel road that divides the park, this is at the west end. It shoots across the ball field, so it is in play. #2, #3 and #4 work around the outside of that block, so sidewalks and city streets are in play. #5 shoots across the playground, across the #7 fairway, and across more sidewalks. Really the only holes to not have sidewalks in play are #8 and #9 playing the SW corner, but close enough to the street to have it in play. Seems like this was a decent idea to start, but things have been added to force some changes. The old #7 had to be taken out with a new building in the way and the course changed (hence the new map). The playground looks new, so it probably wasn't in the way originally. Was quiet with the exception of two guys mowing when I played, but any park activity could be dangerous to work around. Better signs, better tees, a less dangerous configuration would all add to this course. This course is only a handful of miles off of I35, but really not worth the stop unless you're bagging. I will drive on by the next time I'm in the area.

Why not?? Actually, why?? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 6, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

There was a course there...
Close to interstate 35.
Small town, easy to find.
Concrete tee pads. enough obstacles to make it interesting. Was easy to follow once you realized it didn't match the map.
Did I say "there was a course there."?

Cons:

Map didn't match actual course (see below). Course is jammed into a multi use city park and numerous holes are bound by the city streets. Was empty on my visit, but can see potential problems with people trying to enjoy the park for quiet while discs are flying around them. Someone really wanted a course in there desperately. Did I say there was a course there??

Other Thoughts:

Actual course did not match up to map. Started on #1 where the tee pad was designated on the map. There was a tee pad there, but no marker. Wound through the first 4 holes and found the marker to where #1 had been moved.
The "new" number #1 throws across the ballfield rather than along side it.
Love playing and finding new courses, but left feeling really unsatisfied after this one.
