Deservedly popular course 2+ years

Pros:

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a redesign so much, or seen so much work put into not just redesigning, but truly improving the course. It's been a while now, but the past year plus has seen continual improvements to the landscaping.

The design is spacious fairways, lengthy holes mixed with short ace runs, making good use of the elevation around the large park. No fairway is too tight, and the most open fairways are the longest so while you have ample room to rip it, I wouldn't say they are wide open. There's always a creek, cluster of trees, or both to offer a challenge.

The tees are full size concrete, and signs are beautiful, informative maps with lines drawn. This is amazing because you can't always see the basket from the tee. If you're playing to the yellow baskets, you probably won't see most of the baskets. But you can get a good idea of where they are in reference to the purple one you can see.

Probably the best part of this redesign is how on almost every hole, the baskets both seem to make good holes, rather than a hole designed with one placement in mind, and another just fitted in. The purple baskets are pretty accessible for newer players, and the yellow- excuse me- GOLD baskets (for LSU purple and gold), are much more challenging (but not out of reach). I'm normally not a fan of the two baskets instead of two tees, but on this course, it has been done well.

Cons:

The cons are few, but significant. The probably worse one is the few overlapping fairways. Without mandos (which I don't want them to put in), there are a couple times you have to walk back up another fairway, or two holes throw up the same fairway (especially if you take a forehand line). Because the park is usually pretty crowded, you may have to wait, or at least keep your head up as you walk around.

The other one is how extremely muddy parts of this course get. Some baskets were just placed in the lowest, most holding-waterest parts of the park. I don't know if it's always like that or if it just happens to be bad when I'm there, but even if you have water proof shoes you'll probably get wet feet.

Other Thoughts:

This course has been pretty busy every time I go, and deservedly so. It has something to offer newer players and pros alike. I don't mind driving an hour or so every once in a while to play this course on a good day, and would play it often if I was local!
