great place to play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 20, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great people and great place to play. lots of hard holes. there is nothing like being in the middle of no ware with some plastic in your hands. For a town with a population of only 250 this course was maintained like it was a course in a town of 250,000 with its amenities I say it is the best course in Trinity county .Nate has a backpack with speakers on it and a great ipod so the music is there.

Cons:

not a lot of sidearm shots. There is a couple and they are great. The cars that ride the highway are a pain. on the front nine. Some holes have a lot of elevation change so play it safe.

Other Thoughts:

I was a beginner (and still am) when I played this great course. So it was hard for me but it is ok it only made me better.bring lots of water or beer with you. Some times the store closes early.

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Great mix of holes; short, long, open, tightly wooded.
-Lefty / Righty fair
-19 holes all baskets
-Concrete tee pads beeing instaled
-Excellent views of Ironside Mountain and surounding areas
-Friendly locals
-Lots of elevation change
-Some aceable holes
-Many unique holes not found on any other course out there
-Multiple chances to stop at the Burnt Ranch General Store for more beer, water, soda, snacks...
-Some holes have signs with distances
-Very Challengeing, not a beginers course
-Lots of benches

Cons:

-Quite a bit of poison oak around
-Some holes play realy close to Highway 299 and a bad throw could end up on the highway or hitting a car
-Beginers could feel overwhelmed out here
-Cars nearby on some shots could get hit with an bad drive
-Some blackberry bushes

Other Thoughts:

This is a very fun private course just off the 299 in the small town of Burnt Ranch. It plays with about half the holes on one side of the 299 and the other half on the other side. Hole two plays along the old 299 which is now just a dirt road through the woods. There is quite a bit of poison oak around and could be a problem if someone is allergic to it. The course had an excelent mix of holes that played uphill, downhill, flat, to the left, to the right and straight down the middle. It realy didn't feel like it was favorable to leftys or rightys. If your going to try to play call Nate before you head out, his # is on the PDGA website. This course realy helps complete the 299 as it puts a course in between Weaverville and Willow Creek. The course's actual name is Ironside Classified. I'll be back...
