Pros:

For the location of this course, it's fabulous.
Well kept Very short, but I'd never downgrade a course for that.
Interesting, well laid out. Very good signage.
I personally loved the baskets, I found them much easier to putt into than chain baskets.
Owner was very friendly and helpful, talked me through the whole course before I played ( English is his first language if that would help you, but I think his Spanish is very good too.

Cons:

Not very easy to get to, back roads in Nicaragua are not great.
Some would say the holes are too short, but I prefer them to 700' holes any day.
Pay to play, but $2? Who could complain about that, he pays to keep it up, and you can play all day for that.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed my round here, I've never played anywhere else where there was a howler monkey on course.

First Course in Nicaragua 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 25, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a short course. Even at 12 holes, it can be played in about 20 minutes without too much hurry. There are no holes over 250' and most are around 200' or shorter. However, there are plenty of trees and basket placement makes for a few tight holes (but they are all easy). There is no elevation change to speak of.

The baskets have no chains and sit higher than regulation baskets. The pole projects above the rim of the basket by about 12-14 inches or so with a round, numbered sign. You can aim for the pole or sign, but in many cases the best bet is to try to land the disc in the basket. This makes for some pretty challenging putting that, all things considered, makes this otherwise easy course play a little harder.

There are about three holes that have tight fairways, holes 2, 6 and 8 stand out for requiring some accuracy. The rest are basically straight holes with reasonable fairways. Back home, I'd call this a perfect beginner course.

The first hole starts at the parking lot and signage is good. Navigation is straightforward and I had no issues playing it by myself.

I'm still not sure exactly what I paid to play, I think it amounted to about $2. I offered to pay more, but the owner seemed far less interested in my payment than in whether I had fun. He was a very nice guy who explained that he built the course before he really knew what disc golf was.

There are plenty of discs available to borrow, but if you think that you need more than one putter or mid, you need to reassess your disc selection ability. I went early morning and had the course to myself - even the owner was hungover and probably would have gladly not accepted payment if I hadn't awakened him to pay.

The real star of this course is the setting. If you are in the San Juan del Sur area, chances are you are going to be in a good mood already and just like a beachfront bar makes any beer taste better (I'm looking at you Corona), you will enjoy this course just for the fact that it is there and you can play it.

Cons:

Oh, there are cons, like lack of tee pads (but you don't need and won't miss them) or no good chance to air out a drive (you won't care), but there's not much point in dedicating much space to things that, considering the location, nobody will have an issue with. I'll mention the non-standard baskets, but frankly I'm not so sure they aren't a plus due to the welcome added difficulty - and I have seen much, much worse.

Other Thoughts:

I rarely do this, but I am adding a disc to my rating just because this course is worth playing if you are in San Juan del Sur. If you come here looking for a championship level course, you will be horribly - Horribly - disappointed. But, if you just need to take a break from the beaches and the bars and other awesome things you can do here or just want to throw a disc, this is the place for you. Don't worry about traveling with a bag. Just bring a few beers, grab a disc off the wagon by the parking lot and have some fun.

Best Disc Golf Course in Nicaragua 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 17, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very neatly kept grounds, mowed lawn, minimal crowds, lots of wildlife, good vibes, six packs available. Holes laid out for a variety of play and improvised flight paths. Easy to follow, arrows pointing to next baskets, teeing from the basket in most cases. #11 is the longest hole. This is a charming homemade course.

Cons:

The course is a little short but can be played multiple times in a reasonable amount of time. The wind can be strong and constant (#11 especially). Wear tennis shoes cause there are some thorns and you flip flops might not do it.

Other Thoughts:

Good for a novice or first timers. Anyone with an arm can play the whole course with a putter and score well. Beginners should be able to score birds easily on a couple of the holes which is always fun for anyone. It's definately way more fun than doing nothing. :)
