Booooring! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

The good folks at KOA are trying their best to get this course removed from the DGCR site. Since their new affiliation with Thousand Trails, they are not allowing any walk-in day users. I always hate to see the state of Washington lose a course but in this case, the loss would not be catastrophic.

The course features cheap single chain baskets, no tee pads and holes which are randomly set out across an open field. There are no obstacles, nothing to make the course remotely interesting or challenging.

Maybe the one good thing is I did tee off for # 1 from atop the golf driving range. This gave an elevated tee and made # 1 slightly more interesting.

Luckily, Denise, the nice lady at the security gate, was flexible and allowed me to pay my $ and play. She even loaned me a laminated map of the course.

Cons:

Crummy baskets.
No tee pads.
Poor layout.
$5.38 to play.
KOA is trying to prevent walk in traffic.

Other Thoughts:

Frankly, this is just a really poor design and doesn't do what it was intended to do; That is provide another form of recreation to their guests. They have loaner discs available.

What they need to do here is to copy the Little Black Bear course at Farragut State Park in nearby Athol, ID. That would be the perfect introduction to disc golf experience for KOA campers. A quick 30 minute experience where they could have some success. They have plenty of great wooded areas here in install a course.

Not so good 2+ years drive by

Pros:

It's a course way up in the middle of no where...
KOA, Surroundings, and Diamond lake are great

Cons:

Instep 14 Chain baskets with no inner chains
Poor distance, layout, and little challenge

Other Thoughts:

Only people I would see playing this are people already up there. I mean even if you live in Newport.. and you wanted to play anything close and real good courses you would just go to Farragut.

I could see if inner chains were added and a whole new placement in the trees around the area. Along with new tee pads with some added challenges and distance it might be something to try if in the direct area.
