This Old Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

For a nine hole small park pitch and park course, the holes have good honest length in that you are not just wandering around a park making ace runs. There is good parking and, when I played there were porta potties available. The park was not busy and the course is placed away from the other park uses. It was between soccer fields and basketball courts. The tee boxes are marked with a pole that show distance and paved.

Cons:

The course is bordered to the south with a train track as an out of bounds area. Having a hole that runs along a railroad track is ridiculously hazardous. Opposite the train tracks is a probably more dangerous busy street. The course layout was somewhat confusing, though not too terribly hard to catch on to. Wide open and flat, a small handful mature trees per hole, usually near the basket.

Other Thoughts:

One of Omaha Park's biggest cons is that it is way too close to a nearby, top notch course, Jackson Park, which almost makes the location of these baskets obsolete. Seriously, there is great disc golf course just a few minutes down the road. It seemed odd to me that the pole markers measure the distance to the basket in yards rather than feet. Also, I totally appreciate playing in a course established way back in 1979.
