Could be so much better 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- With the area just being a big open field, I'd say they did a good job with the layout. There are left and right doglegs when possible, long and short holes. The holes typically are much longer than you think and you have to get some really good throws to reach the baskets.
- The location is good relative to the school, I had to drive 15 mins to the nearest course at the college I went to.
- If you are a new player, it is a great course to test you arm strength, while having to keep some accuracy. And for the better players, it is a good course to shoot well.

Cons:

- There are a lot of negatives about the course, but it is clear that the root cause of almost all of them, is that the course just isn't a priority for the school and it just isn't kept up with.
- Most of the tee boxes have grass starting to grow up on them. The baskets are old and there are ones that a disc can fall through the basket. And a lot of the tee signs are worn and faded where they aren't readable.
- The area is where they have cross country events, so the grass is cut to make the path for the runners. The holes somewhat follow this path, but is only 10 - 15ft wide and the grass can be very tall and have irritating brush. I get it doesn't make since for the school to keep the entire field cut down, but the fairways need to be wider.
- #3's teebox was completely surrounded by super tall grass, with no path cut to it. #2's basket area is cut down and even #3's basket area is cut, but it looks like they just didn't want to go near the teebox. At least make a path.
- The course parking and #1 is right next to the football indoor facility and the course is only a few hundred yards from the football stadium. You won't be able to park anywhere on game day, or if you come during practice hours or if there is intermural games going on.
- #2's teebox was moved due to a new building being built. You have to walk around it and there is only a tee sign, no concrete pad.
- #5 is a really nice, long dogleg left. However, there is a practice basket right in the middle of the fairway. If you don't know better you will throw right to it. I don't understand why it's there, it is probably one of the farthest points from the start.

Other Thoughts:

- The course is near the River and has several small creeks near it, so mosquitoes, gnats, and ticks are plentiful. Be prepared.
- I mentioned that there are a lot of chances that there could be a ton of people near the course, but if you come when school is out there is a good chance no one will be out there and you will have the course to yourself.
- It's clearly not as nice as the other courses nearby, but it is not horrible and can be a nice place to be depending on the amount of bugs and people around.
