My First GA DG Experience 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 27, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-It has baskets
-It has tees
-Great place to practice distance drive accuracy

Cons:

-Tee pads are way too short.
-Tee signs can be confusing at times.
-Many holes presented little to no challenge

Other Thoughts:

To be fair, I played 2 courses this day and the first was an absolute gem, so this old girl had a lot to live up to. When I say old, I mean OLD. The baskets are the second oldest I have ever played. To be fair, they still catch discs, but their best years are obviously behind them.

The tee boxes are way too short for a long distance bomber course. With so many long distance goals, you really needed at least 8 ft tee boxes to get a good approach to the drive. Most of these seemed to be more like 5-6ft long.

I did enjoy letting some drives fly, and this course definitely promotes it, but pars are super easy to come by. I was playing very badly and I only got one bogey all day. My play deserved many more bogeys than I got.

I appears the locals have done the best with what they were given to try to add teeth to the course, but it just is not there. I was confused by some holes that had multiple baskets. There did not seem to be much rhyme or reason to them.

If you want to go to a course that allows you to chuck plastic in a carefree manner, then Rose Lane is the place for you. I normally love such courses, but the lack of real hazard combined with the disappointing tee pads really holds this course back. With a remodel including tee pads, new baskets, and some strategic shrubbery/trees, this course would have more potential. But I know money doesn't grow on trees, so I guess this rose will remain a memory lane.
