Suits the purpose well 2+ years

Pros:

It's impressive that the designers were able to squeeze nine decent, fun, beginner-friendly disc golf holes into this tiny parcel of land, and generally make it safe for the intelligent player. Not knowing where the course began or ended, I drove around to the large parking area by the back field, then followed the basket signage to the next tee to begin, so I started on 7. But the loop works well, and the unusual use of descriptive signage hanging on the baskets (rather than on tee signs) worked out just fine. Each informative plate told pretty clearly where to look for the white brick-marked tee areas, which had a slight amount of wear, so they really weren't hard to find.

The holes themselves range from several putter ace runs with a tiny bit of line shaping, to a couple of medium length (200 to 300 foot) rhbh turnovers, to a lane shot nearly 500' outside the pines on the west side of the campus (my 'starting' hole 7), to a pine lane shortie that (today) had a hammock strung across the fairway, adding a little more challenge. Now that I think about it, most of the shots that did require line shaping seemed to run left to right, so the course slightly 'favors' lhbh or rhfh throwers.

The baskets were dark painted, slightly weathered discatchers that serve the purpose well, and the maintenance on campus was excellent. You won't lose a disc here. In fact, you might not need to bring one if you can throw a lid / zephyr /ultimate disc, because they keep a stack available for use, on a pole stand between 9 and 1. Overall, a fun little course for the intended audience (church camp novice level players).

Cons:

Being a campus course, you're obviously going to play wise and skip holes if they have activities going on. I happened to arrive during a summer camp, so there were young folks enjoying the surprisingly cool weather for outdoor activities, and they had a couple of tents set up for that purpose. I spoke with a gentleman from the college who wanted to make sure I was playing safe, and expressed a little concern about how to tell the public when it might not be safe to stop by for a throw. If you do happen to swing by and find signage indicating the course is 'closed', please respect that, and come back another time. Seems like they don't mind folks playing, they just want to control safety…

They didn't have any elevation to work with here, so the course does play all flat. Though they incorporated the natural setting of trees, pines, and so on, they don't have enough space to really air anything out, so big arms: might not be your type of course. Finally, the signage is helpful, but 'backwards': info on the hole you just played is on the signs under the baskets, and there are no visible tee markers above ground.

Other Thoughts:

I really thought this was a fun little course to swing by and bag one time, but remind players that, otherwise, keep in mind it's designed for their youth, even if they really don't mind a visitor stopping by.

Don't be chicken 2+ years

Pros:

Rosedale Bible College DGC is a nine hole course which winds through the small campus of this college in the small town of Rosedale, which is essentially just the college. While the course has its quirks (see the 100' hole), it is interesting and very scenic as well. It also has a 525' hole, and a very nice tunnel shot (#8) through mature pines. Oh, and mind the chickens on the teepad for 7. Really.

PROS:
>Nice setting
>Couple interesting holes, with chickens near the teepad on 7 and
a nice tunnel shot (quite wide) through pines on hole 8.
>Can play a round in 20 minutes if you know the layout.
>Decent shot variety, including a couple touch shots, two left to right playing holes, a tunnel shot and a long 500' hole with trees lining both sides to keep you honest.

Cons:

.
>The first four holes play right in the middle of this small campus, making it likely unplayable if classes are in session, though it is a small school so traffic may not be big.
>Strange range of hole lengths, from about 100' to about 500'.
>Holes 1-4 are very close to each other, so extra care should be taken. Hole 3 fairway is very close to a small dorm building to the right.
No teepads, but the ground is flat and did not seem overly worn.

Other Thoughts:

.
BASICS:

>Teepads--None really, just an area in grass, though three are on sidewalks--look for two sunken bricks in the dirt right at the edge. The others are fairly easy to see if you are in the right area--two white plastic markers in the ground.
>Baskets--Older Discatchers, but they still work fine for the level of course it is.
># holes--9
>Setting--A quite picturesque campus of a small bible college. You pretty much wind through the entire thing. That said, you feel like you are in someone's backyard on the first 4 holes, as this area is the on-campus housing area. It is a very small campus, and you are smack in the middle of it for 5 of the holes.
>Elevation--Quite flat.
>Distance of holes--I will list the posted (per signs on each basket, no tee signs) for each hole: 1, 130'; 2, 170'; 3, 300'; 4, 125'; 5, 315'; 6, 200'; 7, 485'; 8, 190', and 9, 200. Now all that said, several of these distances seemed off. #4 is shorter even than the 125 posted--it's a jump putt, I didn't measure, but it looked about 90-100'. Oh, and it is posted as a par 2. There is a tree to toss around too. Funny enough, par 2 seems about right. #5, #6, and #9 seem a bit longer than posted. Strange course with both a 90' and 500'ish holes.
>Free/pay to play, type of course--Free, I saw nothing online or on site indicating it was private.
>Ease of getting to--Not terribly far from Springfield or Columbus, but not terribly close to anything either.

AMENITIES:

>Parking--Near hole one, in what looks like a small dorm area.
>Bathrooms--No, unless campus is open, at which point you likely wouldn't want to be playing anyway. We played on a weekend, and just a couple on campus residents were around.
>Water/food nearby--Plain City/Mechanicsburg are closest, about 15 minutes each.
>Clubhouse/disc shop--No.
>Benches--No.
>Trash cans--No.
>Bag holders--No.
>Tee signs--No, but…the baskets have info for the hole you just played on a small plaque under the basket. So you can see what you just did. There is also info on the next hole as well.
>Next tee direction/signs--yes, but they are on the basket. It tells how far and what direction (surprisingly accurate) the next teepad is. It also tells you the length of the next hole.
>Wheelchair/cart friendly--Yes, yes.

COURSE PLAY:

>Shot variety--Holes 1, 2, and 4 are very short and straight. Holes 3, and 9 are medium distance holes (250'-275'). Holes 5 and 6 are left to right holes. Hole 7 is a long straight shot with tree lines on both sides. Hole 8, was very scenic--a pine tree-lined tunnel shot, with a wider than normal fairway that lets you reach the pin without a perfect throw. Even the shorter holes have a few trees to work around, but the three short holes will make even a young beginner get some confidence.
>Layout, long walks (inc back to car), loops--one 9 hole loop.
>Total distance walked--0.8 miles.
>Ease of finding next tee--Pretty easy if you read the basket plaques.
>General difficulty--Except for hole 7 (about 500'), pretty easy.
>Mud/water issues--No
>Water or O/B to contend with--Mind the buildings and parking lots, we played those as O/B.
>Difficult rough/lost disc risk--None, well, unless you get stuck 20' up in one of the spruce trees on hole 7.
>Scrape/scratch risk--None.
>How busy was course/park--Course actually had another twosome, and there were a few folks around campus on a SAT afternoon. If school is in session, I would say course is a no go, as several sidewalks are crossed, as well as building entrances come into play. Holes 1 and 3 play real close to each other, and hole 4 teepad is basically part of hole 3's fairway.

OVERALL:

>Fun/enjoyment factor, would I play again? If I were passing by, just for hole 8 alone. It is also a nice setting, quite peaceful really.
>Who will this course challenge? Beginner players mostly, though holes 3, 5, and 7 are of decent difficulty.
>Is it worth a drive? 30 minutes, just for the setting.
>Anything unique? Hole 8--a wide fairway pine tree tunnel shot. Very fun. Also, there were chickens wandering around near the hole 7 teepad (past large propane tank). First time I have seen that, so this course has that going for it too.

>Would be a half star higher with--not much more could be done except move a few of the holes out of the middle of campus somehow, there seems enough space in the hole 8 area to replace the 500' hole with a couple more in line with the rest of the course. Too much risk as the course is in hitting someone not playing DG, or playing another hole (holes 1-4 mostly).

I am in my 50s, 80 or so courses played, 875ish.
