Do Not Play this Course In The Rain! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Cove DGC in Ashland with baskets, signs and tee pads would be a nice 3 star course. Keep the grass trimmed and I might even go 3 1/2 stars. But unfortunately, there are no baskets, crummy tee pads, very minimal signage and this really thick 18 inch high grass that absolutely swallows discs. And this afternoon when I played, it was sprinkling rain in always sunny Ashland.

The course is set on the wonderful southern Oregon, gently rolling hills. Take away the tall, thick grass and this natural setting couldn't be beat. The course starts with a fun downhill toss. Then three holes later, # 4 could also be a fun downhill throw, if the fairway wasn't thick disc eating grass.

The tee pads are a combination of dirt, carpet and today in the rain, slippery mud, which prevented a normal run up. The only signs are tiny little ones with just the hole number on them. There is a restroom in the parking lot.

Cons:

No baskets.
Sub-standard tee pads of dirt or carpet.
Minimal signage.
Tallish, very thick grass.
Too many blind holes for me. I never found the # 9 tone. Then I threw to the # 18 tone on # 10.

Other Thoughts:

There was another group on the course today. Paths between the holes are fairly well worn so I believe this course gets a fair amount of play. I only played the course today because I was guaranteed by a Southern Oregon player that there were baskets on both of the Ashland courses. Flipping LIAR!

As it plays currently, the Cove is long on potential and dreadfully short of enjoyment factor. But then again, I don't think there's much competition down here near the border.
