The Resort

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 29, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

-- A mostly well done 9-hole course in a small-town city park.
-- Beginner friendly. Five of 9 holes are 160-220 feet, and only one is longer than 300 feet. Land doesn't offer much (no water, no elevation), but the trees are well used.
-- Best holes are 2, 7 and 8. Two is 187 feet and requires accuracy in a tunnel of trees; 7 is also 187 feet, with the basket tucked between the baseball fence and a shed; 8 is 160 to a 20 x 25 island green. The drop zone leaves you a 25-foot putt.

Cons:

-- Safety issues. Two instances of the following tee being inside circle 1 of the previous basket (1-2, 3-4).
-- Tee signs are basic and provide the distance, but mandos and other requirements (the island on No. 8) are not denoted on the signs. Mandos can all be easily seen from the tees.
-- Tee pads are 4x6 turf. Some are lumpy and not level with the surrounding ground.
-- No seating at tee pads, but there are some benches in the park and a picnic table near the 8 basket.
-- No water or restrooms on site. A building that COULD have restrooms had locked doors and no marking for restroom.
-- No map on site. Not a big deal. No. 1 tees from near the parking lot and the course plays counter clockwise until 9 finishes at the other end of the small parking lot from the No. 1 tee.

Other Thoughts:

-- After 4, you cross the road to reach No. 5, which shares a tee pad with 8.
-- Holes 7-9 play near a baseball field. It appears to not get a lot of use, but if it were in use, that would make playing the course difficult.
-- Park has other amenities such as a playground and basketball courts.
-- Baskets are Prodigy T3.
