Other Thoughts:
This course can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be. When you pull into the park, you will notice it is a small park and will think it will be a pitch and putt course. This is not the case at all. It is not a bomber course by any means, but it offers more than a pitch and putt.
The layout is a bit different with holes grouped in different sections of the park.......
Holes 1 and 2 go around the tennis courts (these holes were necessary in order to have a complete 9 hole course). Not ideal with narrow fairways bordered by fences and fields, but not neccessarily long either. Hole 2 features an "island green" defined by the road and fence. Refer to special instructions on the tee sign.
Holes 3-5 are sectioned together near the water tower. Using the road and walking path as OB, the fairways are separated.
Hole 6 is in the middle section of the park with a nice tunnel shot from the tee.
Hole 7 and 8 share a section of the park where residential areas and the park road create another boundry. Hole 8 features a hanging basket (unique) which is also elevated just a bit for a different taste. It is intended to be that way.
And hole 9 plays again in the center section, shooting to the opposite corner of 6's basket location, keeping the fairways separate.
With two tees per hole and 2 basket locations per hole, there is a decent amount of variety (especially for a 9 hole course).
Anyone can come out to this course and shoot a decent round if you don't play OB. But play as the signs suggest with all OB and the course can be a challenge to the newer players and even the experienced.
For what it is and how much space is allowed, I really enjoy this course.
This park is never to busy with walkers or other park users. However, during the summer months during baseball season, people park along the ball field fence and in hole 7's fairway. Also, the baskets are pulled every year during the town festival around July 4th for the fireworks.
Play this course with an open mind. Be open to throwing around a tennis court and over the ball diamond fence. Play according to the tee signs with roads and walking paths as Out of Bounds. These things were necessary when designing the course so that the course could fit. It is definitely something different, but can still be a challenge to many different skilled players.
