Pros:

West Fork DGC is a pretty solid 18 hole course on the south side of the city. The course plays through a mostly prairie type area, but there's a couple holes that bring you along the creek at least. There's some pretty solid elevation involved out here too though.

The baskets are Innova Discatchers. Two baskets on every hole except one. Hole 14 only had a single basket. The orange banded baskets are always going to be the longs with the green ones being the shorts. Except for hole 12 where they're flipped for some reason. This is always cool to seeing two baskets in play at all times.

The tees are all concrete of decent size and all grippy enough. I didn't have any issues with these whatsoever. One tee pad per hole.

The design here is done pretty well. There's some longer walks between a few holes but it's an oddly shaped piece of land to begin with. Kudos to them for fitting 18 holes in here.

Good tee signs at every hole. I liked these ones. Pretty simple but very effective. They have the hole #, distances and pars for both baskets, a basic hole map and instructions on where the OB is if applicable and how to play it if you find the OB. Nice looking signs.

The course is permanent and free to play. Probably the best option within a half an hour or so. At least. Restroom by the parking lot as well.

Cons:

Very real potential for lost plastic out here with all the prairie grass. This stuff gets pretty tall and there's not much for landmarks so finding a shot off the fairway can be a chore. The bushes and things down along the creek on hole 2 are ten times worse than the prairie grass. Do Not end up down there.

I mentioned it above and I get it, but there's some really long walks between holes. Especially for the first three holes but also from 7 to 8, 14 to 15 and 17 to 18. It's also a decent hike back to the lot after finishing hole 18.

The prairie holes feel repetitive after a little bit. It's a good thing they break it up toward the middle section of the course. But the last three holes are kind of a letdown after getting into some of the better holes.

Other Thoughts:

This course is worth a play if you're in the area. Be sure to bring some discs you don't mind losing if the wind is up. Even if the wind isn't up actually. But definitely a good option if you're near here.

Nice addition to the options south of Denver drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice boxes, signage, benches, and trash receptacles | Two baskets per hole (with one exception) is great; makes it more beginner-friendly while giving the bigger arms a challenge | Some good elevation changes and dry creek bed hazard on several holes

Cons:

Losing discs is a real possibility | Not too technically challenging or requiring a variety of throw types (which I guess could be a "pro" for some players | Extra long walks between a few of the holes, leaves one questioning the hole placement decisions in some cases.

Other Thoughts:

We only played the green baskets for our first round here and I'm looking forward to giving it a go on the oranges. It was quite windy as well which probably made it a more challenging round than it would have been otherwise. Definitely a lot of birdie opportunities on the green basket holes!

Average course, a few too many boring holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 25, 2022 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Tee boxes are all good. Many simply make use of existing walkways
- Some holes make good use of the creek bed, topography and trees
- More elevation changes than most front range courses
- Reasonably good signage ... but see cons below
- Given the number of concrete hiking / biking trails, the actual pedestrian traffic is not very bad. I like the use of hazards outside the sidewalks to alleviate this issue.
- Lots of benches at the tee boxes

Cons:

- A short blind shot on on hole 1 tee. Given the layout of the property this was totally unnecessary.
- The signage shows two possible pin settings on almost every hole. But I was never convinced of the the actual orange or green pin situation, or that the distances were very accurate
- There are 4 or 5 very mundane holes that are wide open and amount to nothing. Hole 18 in particular is very boring hole on which to end .., and leaves you quite some distance from the parking lot.
- A couple of steep drop offs along two or three holes.
- A couple of areas of thickets that are not nice to look for discs in.

Other Thoughts:

- The course feels dull at the outset due to the nature of the open terrain. But a few fairway slopes near the drainage do add some complications to a couple of the otherwise wide open shots.
- The back nine is more visually interesting and seems more fun to play. It also has a few shorter holes mixed in with one par 5, and just seems to have a better variety of shots.
- Not a particularly easy course to play when the wind is up.
- Given everything, it is worth a visit every now and then if you are fairly near, but might not be worth going to far out of your way to play.

Great for the land available 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Brand new course!
This means nice new tee pads
Mulch around the "green" on every hill
Good creativity and land usage. You wouldn't think the land here would make for a good course at it is narrow and long, has a walking path through the middle, and is very slopped, but they did a great job!

Good variety for an average player. Some shorter holes, some long, wide open holes, and some ace runs.

I would say this is definitely an upgrade from the old Lighthouse DGC (Lorenz Park)

Cons:

The bushes can eat discs, some of the hole measurements seem off, sometimes there are walkers, but they are normally pretty far off the fairway

Other Thoughts:

Worth the trip from most South Denver areas to at least give it a shot! I love going for aces on hole 9 through the trees.

Typical Denver Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete tees and brand new DisCatchers for every hole
Plenty of elevation shots
Well defined fairways
Mulch surrounds each basket.
Two basket placements for nearly every hole
Plenty of benches scattered about
Clean bathrooms at the parking lot

Cons:

Most shots are wide open; your main obstacles are distance, winds and elevation changes. What few trees on the property are not utilized very often, neither is the creek that winds its way through the property.
There are substantial walks between holes 1-2 and 14-15. You could easily shave off 1500+ feet of walking on this course while taking more advantage of the available topography. Perhaps the course designer had some restrictions that are not apparent that explain some of these cons
Not much shade

Other Thoughts:

South Denver doesn't have a lot of courses, so this course will probably be popular for that reason alone. This course will keep you entertained from Rec to Intermediate skill levels, but probably not the greatest for beginners, nor challenging for big arms. Not a bad course, just seems like potential was left on the table.

Great new local option 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice new course, easy layout, easy to find the next hole.
Good hole length and difficulty for folks just working on improving their game.
Easy access and right near lots of homes.

Cons:

Not a ton of variety from hole to hole, but enough where I will keep playing.
Some holes could be easy to lose a disc in the woods or the ravines but once you've played them, you know where to avoid the next time (like hole #5 for instance).

Other Thoughts:

I'm really stoked to have a new, well-built and properly maintained free course within walking of my home so this is my new main course. I miss the Liighthouse sometimes, but I think I like this course as much as that one or even a little more.

A Wasted Opportunity for a decent course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand new course with new discatcher baskets, which are some of the best baskets on the market.

Very easy to navigate, even has gravel paths to follow to get to the next tee pad. 2 pin positions for every hole which can add to the variety.

Several holes have some fun elevation change to add to the difficulty.

Cons:

Main objection is it's another wide open hyzer fest. All the holes were in the long positions, and there was only two holes I couldn't reach with a basic hyzer.

There are a lot of trees on the property, and only one hole that utilizes these trees. That hole is less the 150 ft long and is a stand still putter shot.

Another major con of this course is there is a great lost disc possibility. There's a deep ravine near many of the holes with thick chest high bushes all throughout the ravine, making any shot going near the ravine likely lost.

Some lesser cons include incorrect distances on the tee sign. Had to bring a range finder to get the correct distances. Also several of the holes had the tee pads pointed in the wrong direction. You're running sideways across the tee pad to throw your shot.

My final con would be the lengthy walk between some holes, primarily between holes 1 and 2, and then the walk back from hole 18. Hole 18 finishes in the middle of the course, and you have to walk a long distance to get back to the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

This piece of property had a lot of potential, but was not used properly. I can't recommend this course for beginners due to the ravine and lost disc potential. I also can't recommend this course to seasoned players as there is very little variety in your shot selection.

Going to Lose a lot of discs here 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 15, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand new course so all the baskets and tee pads are brand spanking new. Every hole has an A and B location so things can be mixed up quite a bit. With the locations of baskets it offers a wide variety of shots.

Cons:

A ton of bushes and shrubs so there will be a lot searching for discs, and they are very dense and prickly bushes so getting to some bad shots will be tough. There were quite a few holes we used a spotter to make sure we didn't lose discs.

Other Thoughts:

There are no trash cans at any of the holes but it just opened today so hopefully they plan on adding some. Also some of the blind holes could use flags to make viability easier.
