Golfin n’ Swimming At Windermere! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 10, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Windermere Baptist Conference Center is located right on the famous Lake of the Ozarks. This is one of those huge Christian camps with cabins and condos for 90,000 folks and recreational opportunities all over the place. Well here at Windermere, one of those recreational ops is disc golf.

The nine hole course completes a circle around some of the camps buildings. There are no real tee pads just worn spots in the grass. The signs are simple homemade, wood ones with the information lettered with a router. The baskets are Discatchers. Holes are mostly recreational length (155-270') and challenge. It seems as though each hole has it's own little special hazard lurking about.. # 1 has water close behind. # 2 has water on the left side. # 3 has the creek and heavy bushes on the left. The # 5 basket sits in the woods. 6 is an uphill toss. 8 is tight and technical and plays over a creek. # 9 crosses over the pond.

I like # 8 as the top hole here. It has some trappings that make it challenging but on the other hand, it shouldn't be that difficult of a shot for most players.

Cons:

No tee pads.

Rec length and difficulty.

Places where you might to hunt or could lose your disc.

Pond shot might be a problem here.

Sounds busy during the summer months.

Other Thoughts:

I hate to disagree too much with previous reviewers but a 9 hole course with no tee pads and recreational challenges shouldn't merit a rating approaching 3.0. I'll award it a 2.0 and would increase that rating to a 2.5 if tee pads are poured.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice mix of open shots, water hazards, and wooded shots.
Well marked and easy to navigate with the map.
Liked the blind drive on #2
Not crowded the weekend I visited.

Cons:

No tee pads, just a wooden sign to indicate where to start.

Other Thoughts:

The grass hills are very dewy/slick in the mornings so be careful.
Nothing spectacular to be worth a special trip, but if you are in the area or staying at Windememre, be sure to play a round.
The final short drive over the pond was a nice ending.
Be sure to ask for a map/score sheet at the registration office.
