A used Moray and Comet, $1 apiece. Had played Elver Park in 2000 with a Frisbee, and as we were walking off the course, a guy with an RV had set up a bunch of tables with these strange-looking discs. He saw our Frisbees and told us to come over. He explained everything, and said he would sell us some of his wife's old used discs for a buck.
Turns out this guy was in town for the Mad City Open ... his (now-ex) wife is Juliana Korver. Yes, I learned to play using the discs of a World Champion! When i found out who she was, I retired those discs! At least one of them still has her name and PDGA # on it. I volunteered at the next MCO, and met Juliana. She had a good laugh when I showed her her old disc.

mine were the 150 class set from innova leopard aviar and shark, and a bought a champ dragon cuz i thought it had a cool stamp

I bought a X XL, a DX Cheetah and a DX Aviar at the Air Traffic in Southdale Mall in Roseville, MN. The guy at the store recommended the two drivers and either an Aviar or Magnet. I lost the X XL and eventually gave the Cheetah and Aviar to my brother in law.
The first two discs I ever bought were an Orange DX Dragon and a White DX Goblin. Neither one are still in the bag.

The first day I ever played my brother and his friend lent me a disc - I have no idea what the disc was. I promptly flew it into the pond on hole #8 at Cliff. I got in the car, drove up to the Clearwater Disc Golf Store, bought 5 disc's with a bag, and I haven't stopped flying since. I remember those disc's well and none of them are in my bag.

The first discs I ever owned were bought by my wife and given to me for my birthday. They had just opened a DGC in our area and my wife thought I might like to try it. The discs were the normal starter kit: DX Leopard, DX Skeeter, DX Aviar. I soon became addicted to the sport. About a month later I bought a Champion Monarch.

I started out with a Pro D Venom and an EliteX Challenger from PiAS. The chart said I could throw the Venom 400 ft because it was an Ultra Long Distance Driver. Ok, SOLD!...and I'd probably need a putter, just in case I didn't ace every hole. Later that day, I returned to buy a DX Gator (Mid Range Control Driver) because obviously I needed to control all of that POWER! that was making my Venom meathook into the ground at 50ft. I'm surprised I kept playing at all.

195g Phenix in 1989 because the Innova placard by the disc display in the sporting goods store said that disc had been used to set the current World record of 625' by Sam Ferrans (it didn't say the Phenix he threw was around 167g). Shall we say a little too stable for a beginner? Next disc was a 169.5g Eclipse which I did learn to throw well including rollers.

Good ol' Randy Bower. I'm friends with Randy and Juliana from back in the Iowa days. When they split up, Randy was left with boxes and boxes of Juliana's practice discs. He gave them to me, and I have trickled them out to disc golf newbies for the last 10+ years. I still have a few 150-class X-clones with "BOWER" written on the back.
Cool story bro.
the older Wham-o starter pack and a Champion Fly-Dye Beast. I gave away the Wham-o putter, I lost the Distance Driver, lost the Beast, and I still have the carving driver.
