What is the worst shot you've ever thrown?

Mine was a month or two ago. I threw a great shot on my drive on a 400' hole with a tight fairway through the woods. I landed it about 100' short of the basket on the left side of the fairway. All I needed to do was throw an easy hyzer to land near the basket as the guys I was playing with hit trees on their drives and were taking two shots to get around where I was. I ended up grip locking terribly and pulled it dead right. One of the guys I was playing with had to duck really quickly to avoid getting hit in the face. I ended up with a 5 on the hole instead of an easy par and did a ton of apologizing.

Bryant Lake #18 - Landed my drive to the right of the fairway, down the hill from the basket. Threw my Star Leopard on anhyzer up the hill. It hits, flips up, rolls back down the hill and comes to rest right at my feet! I didn't even have to move to take my third shot!

Worst I can remember was at hole #19 at Rotary Park, Huntington, WV. The hole goes downhill with the basket sitting in a nice pocket slightly left. Off to the right slopes downward to a parking lot, road, and some woods. All you gotta do is throw an overstable disc out and let it fade left naturally to the basket. This was when I was starting out, and stupid for that matter, and threw a neutral to understable disc. It went WAY right and just soared for about 300-400 ft downhill past the parking lot, road, and into the woods. It takes alot of effort to throw towards the basket and end up farther away from it than you started.

My worst of recent memory was at Swope Park in KC. I believe it was on hole 14 and I needed my drive to get out a good ways then turn over so I grabbed something flippy to hyzer flip and proceeded to nail the first tree that was about 15' away from the teepad at full power, leaving my second shot in the middle of a row of bushes. My disc has never been the same (about 1/4 of the wing warped from the impact) and my ego took a severe bruising at that point.

@giles---Bet when you found it, you wished it had been lost. How many throws did it take to get back to daylight?

It is all mowed, no brush. I don't know if I played it out, can't remember. I didn't even keep score back then.

This is that wooded area, it is not that bad...

I 4 putted a hole after going for a birdie from 15 ft out. The cage is on the crest of a hill and my disc kept rolling down it after I missed.

Hole 13, Bellamy Park is considered a difficult 3 but it's technically a par 4. A few months ago in a league round I parked the drive about 3ft from the basket for what I thought was a drop in Eagle. The pin is on a steep, wooded hill so I think you can imagine what happened. I went to drop it in but apparently wasn't paying any attention at all because I missed and it flipped off the rim of the basket and rolled. And man did it roll! The thing rolled about 125ft down the hill, over a log, through a swampy area on hole 12, and into the friggin river. All said and done I turned a drop in 2 into a 6.

Gosh, when i started out i was the KING of grip lock. #9 at the old Ross Hills Lafayette,IN was about 400' with OB running all along the right and across the road was a huge grassy area and shelter and then woods. Probably a good 200' to the woods.....I would ROUTINELY hit the woods 30-40' up in the air about 200' ahead of the tees.

I was playing Lake Casitas once on Hole 16 and the wind kicked up going right left at about 15 mph. I'm thinking "Great I'll throw my Monarch and it shouldn't fade". The basket was in "C" at 570. The elevation drop is about 120 feet.

I gave it a little too much hyzer and it faded 450 feet left of the basket. Ended up with a 6 on that hole. I still can't believe I found that disc.

I couldn't say what my worst shot was, there have been so, so many. Too many. During a PDGA event I was in the thick rough and tried to throw out. The disc went no more than 12 inches hung up on a vine and plopped right back in my hand. Then during a very, very windy day from no more than 4 feet out, probably closer to 3 feet, I throw my putter at the chains into the wind, it hits hard but blows right back into my hand. Both of those sucked.

I can tell you without reservation what was the worst hole was. Joseph Davis SP, hole 20, the shortest on the course at 195'. To make it even shorter its about 15-20 feet downhill to boot. Again a very, very windy day and of course its a headwind. My drive flies true, fights the wind and lands 4 feet past the basket. I putt, the disc hits the chains turns perpendicular to the ground and spits out. Naturally the wind catches it and causes it to roll 12 feet beyond the basket. Long story short I took an 8.

An 8 when you were parked 4 feet from the basket!?!?!? I would probably cry.

Most of my worst shots have come off of rollers. The worst shot I ever threw was an extremely griplocked one that went 90 degrees to the right of the teepad, and I almost nailed a kid right in the head. Felt so bad about almost nailing that kid that I was messed up for almost the whole round.

The wind chill was such that I didn't dare shed a tear for fear of freezing my eyes. Its my home course and I think about that day every time I play. I might have more birdies and metal hits on that hole then any other, but at least 4 years later that 8 still haunts me.

Probably not our worst shots ever, but these will always be remembered as completely terrible shots.

A buddy and I were playing in a doubles tournament at Burns Park. The round on the Red course was best shot doubles. We got to hole #2 and I hit one of the early trees and got a kick right of hole #1 Blue's fairway. I told my buddy to just get passed those first two trees and we should still be ok. Well, he hit a tree down the fairway a bit and was so far left that he was almost to #3s fairway. We took a 5 in best shot doubles on a 330' hole :wall:

What's the ruling there? Is there some sort of penalty for interfering with the disc in flight?

Whoah! There's another ~4 throws of story there. But, I guess it's lots of wind, bad luck, and maybe poor judgment.

Hole 11. Walnut Creek in Virginia. I have a 50-60' approach to this basket.

What you don't see in the picture, (and I didn't know because it was my first time playing and I didn't scout ahead) is that the drop off on the other side of this basket is about 40' down into a nicely paved parking lot that runs slightly downhill as well. I was throwing Ion's at the time and it was a very casual round so the other guys walked forward after their approach and were standing off to the side waiting for me. My approach was good but short, hit chains and went through and then the fun began. All of my friends start howling and running to the basket and I am grabbing my bag and walking up and I realize what happened. The disc was still rolling through the parking lot when I got to the baskets edge. I turned a 50-6-' approach into a disc laying at least 200-250' away. "But I got up and down right?" Didn't get up and down. Ended up with a 7 on that stupid hole.

anyone that played the Yetter might have heard about my famous shot that i threw behind me into OB.
I didn't sleep before the event and going into the 2nd round I was basically blanking out and falling asleep sitting on my camping stool.
I step up to hole 6 and get ready to throw my teerex. as I get ready to throw I basically don't remember what I'm doing or remember much of anything. Next thing I know I griplocked the disc behind me. It flopped in the air like a demented coin flip over 75 feet behind me and ended up OB on the other side of the walking path and almost down the hill.
One of the guys in my group laughed so hard he threw up. It was pretty bad. Needless to say I reteed instead of taking it from the last place it was inbounds!

Was playing my first tournament in August and was playing number 5 at Paint Creek. This hole has an OB road on the right and is a pretty narrow hole. I throw my drive and it lands right beside the road. There are two trees in front of me and the basket is off to the left. Being a lefty, I want to throw a forehand that will go right to left around the trees. So, I get up to the shot, throw my Halo and it proceeds to go dead straight across the road, crossing OB 10 feet in front of me. I just stood there is disbelief and then walked 10 feet in front of me and threw again. I was so mad....:doh::doh::wall::wall:
