Minnesota Majestic

What was the end-of-round penalty that was assessed to Catrina Allen?

Apparently the scorecards they turned in (she (& Sarah Hokum) had them tied, but somehow Cat was penalized giving the W to Sarah.

They said on the broadcast Catrina threw OB yesterday and then didn't take her next throw from the mandated dropzone.

I had to go back to re-listen to Terry's report. Apparently Cat went OB on a hole yesterday and failed to play from the drop zone as required, so she was assessed a 2-throw misplay penalty. Not sure why that had to wait until the end of today's round, but I imagine it was either that the TD did not find out until today OR Cat did not realize her misplay until today and 'fessed up at the end of play.

Strange turn of events, but if she misplayed, the penalty is appropriate.

Yeah, I agree with the ruling if that's what happened; I just don't get what caused it to wait until today.

Like the coverage.. Always fun to watch the pros throw holes that i play.. Anything can happen at BRP with wind picking up should be a fun finish!

Its definitely 1000x more fun and satisfying (and humbling) to watch them play a course that I've played.

Would have liked to see it as an 18 but eh. Next year.

I understand the use of 1 and 22 from a gallery/ease of use standpoint as the playoff holes, but these two don't seem to provide quite enough separation for players of this caliber to decide a playoff. Would it hurt to work a par 4 into the mix?

It was kind of weird playing two holes over and over again, especially those two holes.

For as good as the coverage was, the tournament itself had some issues, from the weird 22 hole format, to OB stakes without OB cording making it difficult to determine in/out, to a couple clown holes, to the repetitive playoff.

what was the 'weird format' on Hole 22?

I totally get why they used 1 and 22 for crowd purposes but...

talk about 2 terrible holes for a disc golf final.

From what I heard, someone in Cat's group went OB on that hole today and went to the drop zone. Cat then asked and realized that she should have gone there yesterday. Under current PDGA rules, any score corrections can be made in any previous round until the tournament is declared over.

Looked like Nate wanted to give the tourney to Rick. 2 terrible putts to seal his fate.

Maybe we should start a "Is Nate Sexton finished?" thread. ;)

Seriously, he's been in playoffs earlier this year and lost during those playoffs. Dunno if it's a nerves thing or a finishing strong thing, but it's a bane of his...

Nate got hit with the "soft course" comment curse... that was probably the shortest putt for a win- missed that I've ever witnessed or ever hope to witness.

I wanted to give Nate a hug after he missed that putt. Felt bad for him.

Right before Nate putted that 15 footer for the win, he tossed some grass into the air, and saw the putt was into the wind. I thought, oh no, he's gonna overplay the wind and miss low, and sure enough, he did. I'd have liked to see him win, as much as he's in the top 5, he deserved a win.
