Mad as all get out. Convinced myself it was Thursday at 8:00 not Friday. What a let down!

Lyleross... I asked all the players to show up a day early for you. It had to be unanimous, and 1 guy held out. I can't say who though. ;)

We tried to get as much Nate coverage with our bonus camera as we could after we saw he was 5 out of 6 or so. We need to fix the mic on our bonus camera as it was using the internal and not a shotgun mic and it had an annoying hummmmmmmm behind it.

Other than that, I was pretty content with how the coverage moved along today. There was an issue getting it onto the SmashBoxx FB Live & ProTour FB Live at the same time, but I think I figured it out and tomorrow it should be in all 4 places.

Thoughts?

I'm watching the archive right now (in real time) since I couldn't watch live this morning. Nothing much to say about the coverage itself except that it has looked really good so far. Signal must be really strong out there.

It sounds like you're saying that you are taking the live stream we are watching on the DGPT Youtube and simulcasting it on Facebook Live. I'm curious what the motivation is for that move. Is the thinking that FB Live will get to more eyeballs faster (particularly mobiles) and is more easily shared than the Youtube link?

Outside of the broadcast, the only thing that has jumped out at me is hole 8. That seems a bit ridiculous for an A-tier/DGPT event aimed at the best players on the planet. A little downhill dinker that some of these guys are jump-putting off the tee? Yuck. It's okay for casual play and lesser skill levels, but it's not a good look for these guys. Doesn't help that all four on the feature card botched the hell out of it today.

Rest of the course looks like a lot of fun though. Better than a wide open hyzer fest, for sure.

Kind of makes your point...pointless when some of the world's best players can't birdie it. lol.. Still....looked like a big right to left gap to easily hit from the camera angle off the tee?

I think you mean hole 7. But I am all confused because the renumbering of the course. It is ranked as the easiest hole on the course, and I found it funny that our featured card crapped the bed on it. I laughed out loud at my computer while watching it.

Cale pared down the 27 hole course to 22 holes. This made for better flow. And it could be that this hole just needed to be there for a "connector" hole? But I do agree that it really shouldn't be a part of this course. I am GLAD there is only 1 of them like this though.

We traditionally only cover a single card through the course. We could have gone longer, but it gives us a chance to wander around and get additional shots and post-edited coverage for "extras" to use later in the broadcast days. And the cards in the early morning were "stacked" as to give us time during the rest of the day. We knew most likely we would get the leader come out of one of those cards.

Plus... money. It costs us dollars the longer we are on. I am not complaining, just saying.

Good point about what days. I didn't think that through when I made that post.

Watched parts of the live YouTube broadcast when I had time at work today. Watching on my iPhone the video quality was very clear and the connection was smooth and strong. Saw some people commenting that the audio wasn't synced up at times, but I had it muted so can't attest to that. The "bonus card" coverage is understandably hard to make out on a phone screen, but still gave me something to look at while there was down time on the featured card. Great coverage overall in my opinion, can anyone here give me a height on the hanging basket? I'm not being much help cause I'm not sure exactly which hole it was or if there are other hanging baskets.

I thought his point was that the hole was "too easy" for top pros. He didn't seem to be making the watchability point. Which, when the feature card has no birdies, seems to contradict his point.

I think it's a good hole, based upon the fact that you have a hole that's challenging a different skill set. If dg is to be a complete game, then we do need holes that challenge accuracy inside of 200 feet. It's nearly 100% about accuracy and control. Lots of trees with no larger than 10-ft openings, plinko trees that can get you off the fairway with a bad hit, short in distance but with OB long. And I believe (rightly or wrongly) that Ricky was jump putting it off the tee in an attempt to layup short and take the easy 3. Ironically he ended up jump-putting into the tree so he had to make a tight sidearm anHyzer to save his 3.

Not the only time he jump-putted off the tee. The pointless holes are the wide open 330ft or less holes. Those do nothing to show off anything.

Terry said Uli aced that short hole in practice, then used a different disc, and different throw for the tourney. Weird.

To be clear, I am not saying it's a bad hole in general. If I encountered a hole like that in a casual round somewhere or even a C-tier, I wouldn't say a thing. I'm saying it's not really an appropriate hole for a tournament of elite players like this. It's a par 2, even with the trees and the OB danger. Those guys on the feature card yesterday bogeyed that hole as far as I'm concerned.

Loved watching at work yesterday! Thanks for making my day better.

That said, the point of 2 card coverage is to show something relevant instead of the feature card walking down the fairway... so why go split screen and show bonus card putting on 21 and feature card walking down 20? Eliminate the split and just show 21. Pretty simple. The small screen showing the walking was pointless.

If I'm understanding SSA correctly, would yesterday's 1000-rated round of 68 (-5) make Sexton's 1087-rated 56 the #4 all-time round for >66 SSA courses? If it hadn't been for Napier's stellar -14 round, he would've gapped the entire field by 6 strokes...

When courses have more than 18 holes, the SSA gets adjusted to an 18-hole equivalent SSA, in this case about 56. This would move that 1087 into contention for a best rated round among 54-60 SSA range courses where 1095 is currently the 10th best round. He missed the top 10 by 2-throws.

Note: Hot tournament scores on courses with less than 18 holes are not used in the "best ever" rankings.
