Hardest thing for you to overcome / learn

What was the one thing that made the greatest impact on your game once you learned it or overcame (ie. bad habit)?

Technique,
Disc Selection,
Grip / Hand placement,
Shot selection / Strategy
etc...

The hardest thing for me has always been finding a consistent putting stroke, it's gotten a little better now that I'm practicing putting more, but it's still a struggle for me.

for me....

1) Disc Selection and Distances - Learning how to properly judge the shot distance and which disc to throw. Knowing that the hole is 200', uphill with a slight fade and that i need to throw my leopard at <XX>%. <- Knowing with confidence and not merely guessing, or picking a disc that you can throw in that range just because it should have the distance.

Putting. It's all important, but I'm making birdies now because I'm getting much better at the 20-30 ft putts. Plus, I'm better at keeping the disc close on misses.

Now with that have been various changes in grip, stance, rock, line, aiming. I've really changed immensly from how I started to how I am putting now.

My putting technique. I really don't have one. I am always trying different things but don't give them enough time to see if they help. I just don't practice putting enough.

putting, I think the key would be getting a practice basket for the holidays!

Putting definitely, not just getting a basket for the holidays, but just finding a rhythm and a stance that I liked. Also joining a league where I actually had to care about putting.

The hardest thing I have overcome is under arm driving. I used to hold my non-throwing arm (left) out horizontally when driving and on longer approach shots. I realized through reading one of the Blake T. articles that this was slowing my spin. I had to consciously force myself to bring that arm into my body.

The main one I'm concentrating on now is putting. I started out the year putting "sidey". I squared up to the basket many months ago but it's been really hard developing a style I'm comfortable with and consistent with. Lot's of practice on a practice basket and it's coming along nicely.

Next will be overall consistency which comes from good shot selection and confidence in the shot I'm throwing. Shot selection is the easy part, having the confidence in the shot I've selected is more difficult.

for me personally, i would say my putting and strategy have made the biggest impact on my score. when i first started playin, i didnt think about setting up my next shot on a hole i know i cant deuce. and my putting is better b/c i have finally found a putter i like, and have changed my setup a little. my stance is different, my routine before i putt, my grip.

for me its been consistency...just throwing good shots the majority of the time took me a while to do...used to be every few throws went into a tree or away from where i wanted it to go, expecially on my drives. im happy to say that i can make disc go where i want them to most of the time now :)

Personally, it's consistent rhythm/technique on my drives. I am not a happy camper if my drives aren't going like I want them to b/c I spend so much time working on it. I don't care how good my putting is if my drives suck.

Definately consistency in my drives. Some days I'll put out a good drive on like 15/18 holes. But some days I'll be all over the place high, wormburners, late release, poor angle. I just need to go out in a field and work on form for a few days.

I kept figuring things out then getting better and finding new holes.

I'm close on my mids and my putt and approach game was helped a lot by adding a challenger.

Now I need to learn to use appropriate shots on my drives. I need to work more on overhead shots and flex shots and hyzer spikes and flips. And I probably should obtain a sidearm throw.

That sounds like a lot, but it makes sense my driving has to evolve so much since I've only been playing for 4 months.

Still working on overall consistency of my game. I can play pretty well one round and then the very next round is pretty bad. This past weekend for example, I played Coyote Point at Lake Casitas and shot -7 (8 Birdies / 1 Bogey) then +3 (3 Birdies / 4 Bogeys / 1 Double Bogey) but then went -4 (4 Birdies) on the last round. That middle round just pissed me off and I couldn't even joy how well I played the other two rounds because the random inconsistency is my biggest pet peeve these days.

Lately, its been my long approaches. I can have a really nice drive but then toss my approach way off.

I used to use a Pro D BuzZz to prevent this. It's got a lot of glide and you can get a lot of different lines out of it. Unfortunately I just chewed through that disc and while the Elite X BuzZz is very similar...it just isn't the same.

Fortunately I found the Challenger...and that's now my approach disc. In one day i went from "what do I do with this?" to "I bet I can birdie this hole from here...." My dad got a challenger a few days before I did (he won one really cheap on eBay not knowing what it was even, and I had already ordered myself one by the time he got his in the mail..) and he tossed it one time on a whim and it changed his game around. He took like 9 strokes off his game...and now we're too even. It scares me :)

Beat XD was my go to approach disc until i started rocketing it past the basket. Now I use my SSS Wizard almost exclusively inside 150'....... thinking of picking up a stiffer plastic Wizard to completely replace the XDs in my bag

Wind.

While putting has been a long-running and everpresent challenge, knowing how to handle headwinds, tailwinds, crosswinds, and the treacherous 3/4 wind (part headwind, part crosswind) bedeviled me for a long time.

I am ok actaully with my Banger-GT up to 200'. I can get it up to 240' but not with a lot of accuracy. And my Fairway drivers I get out to 300' but most accuratly around 250'-275' so its just that sweet spot between 200'-250' where I can take some off of my Leopard which seems to be working lately, but I run the risk of overthrowing.

I am working on my mids now trying to figure it out. Going to work with the ones I got first and see if I can get it that way, but if not, I will start trying some more.
