[Innova] Barsby Sig Disc Wild Speculation Thread

Signature Barsby KC Pro Aviars are up on the factory store. I think same logo on top as his signature Roadrunner plus a commemorative bottom stamp.

I meant flat as ****. They are so flat they have puddle tops (atleast my blue one does). If i lost all of my 11x's i would be fine because these x-out feel and fly exactly the same. i guess i should have kept this one secret : ) but i got my backups.

from the looks of it those green x-outs are also flat. the X is actually purple and looks amazing in person

Whoever swiped that last yellow X-Out, you will not be disappointed

He has an interview where he said he wants flat top eagles (and to get the plastic for em right) if climo will let him have it!

He does know this is Innova, right?

...Yeah for the tour discs like Sexton Firebirds they seem to try to nail something down. But the world champ discs like star Destroyer, star Teebird, champ Thunderbird, champ Roc3, etc. they are just the normal discs with a stamp of their name/title.

i wonder how old the x-outs on infinitediscs are. if they are currently being stocked (i see a variety come in monthly) then innova is capable of making flat eagles in opaque gummy plastic similar to their 11x's. Anyone got info about "big X X-outs? and when they were produced?

Eagle is an obvious choice, but for the reason he didn't choose the mold for his tour series disc, I wonder if maybe he will not choose it for his sig - look at the eagles he throws. Innova would have big shoes to fill to make eagles that he would actually like to bag.

Paul's bag on the other hand? A bunch of stuff off the rack at Big5. Nothing wrong with that obviously, just no brainers for big production runs.
My impression is that Barsby doesn't throw old Eagles necessarily for the flights as much as the grip. In his ITB video he specifically says that grip is the top of his priority list and old Eagles are naturally going to grip better than new ones because plastic gets "finger printy" and less slick as it breaks down.
My only concern is I have only thrown one newer-ish champ Eagle, it was glideless and dumpy. How common is that?

I mean on paper and seeing the lines he hits the Eagle should be the disc. But do they start off super beefy and that's why he likes old ones?

Whereas the Roadrunner bombs for anyone with a clean throw.
Fairly common, especially in premium plastic. It's kind of what endears the Eagle to Eagle throwers, it's like the FW driver version of the Destroyer in that with enough Eagles you can cover everything. Most of them will break into line-shaping goodness but some Eagles are just "fat" and stay OS and dumpy like a mini-Firebird. Those are still kind of cool when you find one in lighter weights b/c you can really put your ass into them and they'll boom despite how light they are.

Yeah he throws so many forehands that it makes sense that he prefers flat Eagles to domey Eagles.

Honestly a flat Eagle3 L Mold in current champ plastic would be closer to old CE Eagle flights.

Plus I would rather buy a stack of those than X Molds.

Slightly off topic, but wouldn't the Eagle3 L just be a TL3? Putting the fairway "3 top" on the "L bottom" would redundant, they've already made TL3s.

No because the 3 top is just a modified top and molds have more than 2 pieces. there is a nose configuration and possibly others as has been speculated on dgcr before. Also the teebird and eagle share the same bottom but not the top. So an EagleX3 would be different than a Teebird3, EagleL3 different than a TeebirdL3

also maybe it is redundant anyway and that is why the eagle-L is OOP :)

You can get them on Innova's website, to my knowledge though that's the first time they have ever been stamped "Eagle-L" on the top, it used to be certain runs were L and most were X, you had to look at the wing to determine the difference or the penned marking would be EX or EL.

A questionable move at best by Innova and probably one that led to the Eagle not being as popular since in their heyday, early 2000s, there weren't many resources to help players differentiate between the models, couple that with Innova's track record on consistency and you could have 2 completely different discs both stamped Eagle on the rack at a local shop. Wouldn't take long for an unknowing player to give up on that mold. I'm dumber than a bag of hammers so I'm not the greatest example but bought a few back then and gave up on them myself.

This is why I am not a huge fan of the flat Eagles. They all come out pretty overstable, similar to a Banshee. I prefer Star Eagles with some dome to them. These fly stable out of the box but have plenty of glide, and beat into fantastic shot shaping discs. As someone else here mentioned, the Eagle-X is basically a speed 7 Destroyer. They have almost identical flights when new and as they beat in.

For anyone who missed them and wants a Barsby KC Aviar I saw that Sun King has some up on their website for pre-order.

Appreciate the heads up, but...

Innova was selling them for $14 and these guys are flipping them for $20? Basically a 45% markup, plus whatever they gig you on shipping. I'll pass.
