Hey buddy's, I made thread awhile ago about finding a straight flying FH driver to replace my First Run Cranks that were beat in to an understable flight. The majority said to try a VIP Sword and so far I am liking them a lot. The only issue is it doesn't have quite the distance that my Cranks did because they seem a little more stable.

So can anyone tell me if the AIR Swords are a dramatic drop in stability? I'm afraid they'd be easier to turn over, but hope it might be a little less effort for a lot more distance on wind free days.

what weight are the swords? could try lighter vs going super light like air plastic. I found a seasoned TP sword to be very, very long but that was after it lost a good amount of its intial stability. LSS all about disappeared then high speed turn kicked in and it become a bomber while my freshie was a placement driver. ALso can find swords with higher and lower PLH given the 2 plastics. Seemed like when they first came out Black colored TPs were great throwers but.... Black :gross: I lost a ton of those damn things.

My 174 VIP (bought new) and 173 TP (traded for with a little use) have not really broken in much despite their heavy use. I do use the VIP way more so I can beat it in, and I'd say it gets driven at least 5-8 times a round depending on the course, but its flight is still about the same since day 1. I guess I could try an AIR and hopefully find a TP or VIP around 165 to try too.

I would keep working your max wt ones then see if you can find a lower PLH 165-8g. 5-8 drives a round is not much at all and would take a very long time to break in premium plastic discs if those were the only throws on them.

Do you throw the sword with a slight hyzer and let it straighten out then fade or more of a helix flight with anhyzer for your distance?

You might try the z-lite crank if you liked the first runs...

I have and can bomb my z-lite crank, that was a good suggestion....I was gonna suggest the Air World - more stable than the z-lite crank

Z-Lite Crank on a slight hyzer flew alot like my first run cranks, although the plastic isn't as durable.

The Cream 156g VIP Air Sword I picked up at DD Lewisville is effortless distance with the perfect amount of S with how I sidearm.:thmbup:

There's a fairly wide range in stability for air swords.

In general, the domey, clear plastic ones have been more stable flyers for me.

I played a round with an Air Sword today, and for me, in pretty calm conditions, it had a beautiful neutral flight. With a slight anhyzer release it flexed nicely and finished on target. Almost had an ace with it.

I think that I have one from that same run. It's flight is awesome. Wouldn't know that it is bubble plastic without reading the fine print.

Would you guys say the Sword is a much different disc than the Northman? The numbers indicate that they would be quite similar. (Love the Northman BTW)

The Sword has a wider rim, and is somewhat faster.

I think Northman would be more akin to a Saint or an Escape.

Flightwise they would be similar, with a likely distance advantage to the Sword.

For real! Can't tell its bubble plastic at all! It makes it not as embarrassing since no one knows I'm throwing lightweight!

I've got 3 Swords bagged currently 1 VIP, 1 TP and the new Air and they all serve their own forehand purpose. Lovin it!

Air Sword was out again today - there was wind, and I hooked one into the breeze. Terrible dg shot, but man did that disc sail. Probably one of my farthest shots ever on flat ground.
