NC fall trip - Boone or Charlotte?

Tentative schedule (I still need to confirm availability/access for several of the private courses).

Fri, Apr 19:
Panther Creek
Harmon Hills (already confirmed)
Warriors Path

Sat, Apr 20:
Black Jack (need to confirm / need an escort)
Heritage Farm (need to confirm, but seems likely from initial contact)
Ashe County

Easter Sun, Apr 21:
Rolling Pines
Off the radar private course (need to confirm)
Yadkin County

Mon, Apr 22:… only have time for one because I have about an 11 hr drive + stops not including stops.
Deep Creek Dreams (need to confirm)
Rockness Monster

Will see how things develop based on based on feedback from course owners.
Three courses/day may be a bit too aggressive if the terrain and the DG are too taxing, but that's worked pretty well for me to this point. I purposely left public courses for end of day. In case I'm wiped, I don't want to skip a private course after making arrangements to play it, plus you never know if you'll get another chance.

I didn't see any events scheduled on DG Scene for these courses on these days, so that's good.
Harmon Hills does has a Survivor Golf event planned for Sat (thanks for the heads up, David )

Is there another site I should check for possible conflicts?

I like Rockness over Deep Creek but with the caveat that if you're pressed for time Deep Creek is probably faster to play. There are so many holes and different layouts at Rockness, it can be a bit confusing where to go.

Thanks. That's the kind of insight I'm looking for. Left a message for Ross Davis earlier today ...hope he gets back to me. Tried calling Tom Wagner, but that # just gives a busy signal. Wonder if it's disconnected. :\

Including Deep Creek, I still have 4 private courses to confirm, so if plans fall through on some of those, I could still end up playing Rockness... or maybe something relatively good along my route.

Rockness is a terrific course. I haven't played Deep Creek Dreams yet, but I endorse Rockness.

Three courses in a day is ambitious. Three mountain courses in a day might be insane. Good luck to you, sir!

Chugodatrite!!! Three of us local course owners used to do a Summer Solstice Sling every year, a round on each of our foothills NC courses, on the longest day of the year. Start at daylight, finish at dusk, courses all within 15 miles of each other..... even then it was tough getting the rounds in. [emoji41] We'd rotate course order each year and have a full, good, sit down meal at the last course owners home. Generally at least one of us would fall asleep during post prandial libations. [emoji23]

Greetings! We spoke yesterday... when I couldn't stop coughing, and you thought I might die.
Glad you can accommodate me! :hfive:

So, here's my updated itinerrary:
Fri, Apr 19:
Panther Creek
Harmon Hills (confirmed)
Warriors Path

Sat, Apr 20:
Black Jack (still working on this one)
Heritage Farm (confirmed. Tentative reservations at the BnB. I told her if she can book a longer stay for the holiday weekend to take it, because I'm only staying one night, and don't want to jam her up).
Ashe County

Easter Sun, Apr 21:
Rolling Pines
Off the radar private course (confirmed)
Yadkin County

Mon, Apr 22:… only have time for one because I have about an 11 hr drive + stops not including stops.
Deep Creek Dreams (haven't heard back from owners... make just hit Rockness instead..)
Rockness Monster

Depending on how I do Fri - Sun... as an alternative for Mon, I might:
skip Rockness (which would cut my drive time home by about 90 min) and:
a) Play a couple of courses I'd scheduled as my 3rd course for the day, but wasn't able to get to because my stamina gave out.
b) Play some other quality courses that aren't as out of my way as Rockness... which might allow me to hit two courses Mon instead of one.

Still need to map it out, but I like to leave myself options. If I only have time for one, then maybe I'll hit Rockness. But if I can manage two really good courses and still get home before too late, that seems like more bang for my buck.

Thanks for the feedback.

I am 99% sure I can meet you and take you through Blackjack on Saturday the 20th.

I'll contact the family tomorrow and hopefully get approval.

Panther Creek
Harmon Hills (confirmed)
Warriors Path

Sat, Apr 20:
Black Jack (confirmed)
Heritage Farm (confirmed)

Easter Sun, Apr 21:
Ramcat Ridge (confirmed)
Yadkin County?

Mon, Apr 22:
Rolling Pines
Ashe County

I'd forego the public courses Mon if I get fortunate with another very special private course, but I'm not counting on that, so the above is my working plan, with that contingency.

Mon afternoon: head back to Michigan with a as much plastic as I have left.

Wish I could join you for Ramcat. I would say that The owner is one of the kindest, friendliest, good vibes people I've had the honor to play with in all of my 7 years as a disc golfer! It's an epic course as well! Just don't pass his road like I did! I got horribly lost on 1,200 acres, above his property! Was an hour late getting there because of that!

Dang Mark, if I didn't know me better..... Wish you could join us as well!!! Make it soon my friend.

I don't know about you guys, but it's only Tuesday, and I can hardly wait for the weekend! May be a light snow shower to deal with, but it shouldn't be too bad.

For sure Mark. I think y'all will be OK. On the other hand I got my meteorology degree through the mail.

Currently sitting in my truck on the teepad for #3 Ramcat sipping on a Terrapin Moo-Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout and enjoying the dregs of a beautiful afternoon.

Come on down the mountain and join us Sunday Mark. [emoji106]

The car's packed. Can't wait to take off from work tomorrow. I hope the weather doesn't suck.

I'll be very disappointed if Fri & Sat are washed out.

* suddenly gets religion*

Danger,Danger, Will Robinson. The weather in the mountains is rainy and windy for friday and saturday. You would do well to flip the schedule...

It's not too late, turn around.

Thank you for the advice, Rich. I did see that Boone got well over 4 inches of rain today.

Basically we have 5 people that can only get together tomorrow morning. I have a pass from The Warden (we're trying to reconcile) and tomorrow is my only opportunity. We're going to be very careful and hope for the best.

Hope you and family are all doing well. I very much appreciate that I was able to see you a couple of weeks ago. My sincere thanks to you!

Jamie thank you very much for the invitation. I wish I could join you Sunday, timing is just bad right now, unfortunately. My Birthday is May 31st, maybe I can come up and see you then. The rest of the Summer gets complicated. My wife is going to be having part of her lung removed, to hopefully get rid of her lung cancer. I need to be here to support her thru her recovery. I will check in with you well ahead of time. Happy Easter to you and your family.

Mark

You guys are forcing the issue. This falls in the not meant to be category. I really hope no one gets hurt.

Rich, I respect the family far too much to play, if they suggest we should not. I'm going to contact them immediately on arrival tomorrow morning. If they feel it's best we don't play, we won't. A few months ago I went, and there was a TRACE of snow and ice on the course. I left within 10 minutes. I am not only risk-aware for my own benefit, but I am risk-aware out of respect for course owners. It benefits no one to get hurt.

Thank you Rich, I do sincerely appreciate your concern.

Mark, y'all be careful every chance you get. I like a good story, but a good eulogy... For sure on the BD Mark! Just jerk my chain again. An aside for your wife, my dad had a lung lobectomy to remove a tumor and got complete excision and 25 more years. Nothing but good karma my friend!

Rich, damn good to see you. Hope all is good!
