New California courses update thread

Moreno Valley Course Update:

Multiple retaining walls have sustained damage due to heavy rains in the past months. Heavy equipment is required to repair the walls. Until the repairs are completed there is no timeline on opening the course.

Will be adding three courses to the database today in Southern California:

Ramona Wellfield Park in Ramona, CA
Coyote Trails in Descanso, CA
Mobiland RV DGC in Ocotillo Wells

All are 9 hole courses.

new Course Update:

The city of Helendale will have a new 9 hole course opening this weekend. Course is currently in

The city of Kingsburg as completed a new 18 hole course in Burris Park. Course is called First Responders DGC. Course is open limited hours and on weekends plus holidays.

Bear River High school in Grass Valley has installed a short 9 hole course. Course is now playable.

Spider's Web disc golf course near Aromas Dog Park in Aromas, CA is open with new dga baskets and gravel teepads. 9 hole course

If your on Catalina Island and in the area of Avalon, there is a disc golf area. Currently 3 baskets with 9 tee areas are just south of hole 7 of Catalina Island Country Club and golf course.

In Fullerton, Ca a 4 hole practice area has opened up at Rolling Hills Park. Currently installed, but park renovations are on going.

Update:

Cutler Park in Visalia has the baskets installed but teepads aren't in yet. Plans are for 18 teepads with 9 baskets.

added a third course to the database for camp pendleton.

Moreno Valley is expected to open in JUly sometime. There were some disc golfers testing it this past weekend.

More courses coming to the database next month from Central Cali.

looks like the city just recently added a new 9 hole course to a public park. I will get up there this month to check it out and get pictures for the database.

I grew up in the small town of Portola, CA, maybe 45 minutes from the Reno/Tahoe area. Now live in Austin and I'm surrounded by fantastic Houck designed courses. Just saw some awesome news that Houck is designing a championship level course in Portola. Does anyone have any more info on this course, and how it's coming along ?

Ryan, we're making good progress in Portola and are looking at an opening later this year. Local support is strong and it's a very nice property. Wouldn't call it "championship" just yet, as par will be 56, but there may be room for future expansion down the line.

moreno Valley , ca update:

Rancho Del Sol now has weeklies with flex start times from 8am to 3pm. the golf course drives you out to hole 1 and picks you up at hole 18.

cottonwood DGC, the second course in the city opens friday July 23rd. ROunds are $6.20 to play. there will be free food and events on saturday the 24th.

New Course in gated community in the city of: Mission Viejo

Ladera Ranch is a short nine hole course that weaves through a long park setting with a street to one side and homes on the other.

DEath Valley Area, out in Panamint Springs, CA @ Panamint Springs Resort there will be a course to play. Course will be finished in August with a Fall opening Im hearing. Their waiting for the heat to subside a bit.

Churn Creek Golf Course in Redding, CA

Course designer is a solid guy with an amazing private course if your ever up there you should contact him.

Salmon River DGC is not playable just north of Redding do to the Complex River Fire. All roads going to the course are closed.

Foxtail Ranch: private 18 hole course in Valley Center, CA that requires a reservation. Saturday play and night play on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you need more info pm me.

Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline disc golf course in Oakland, CA will be opening October 10th at 1pm to the public.

The Portola Riverwalk disc golf course in Portola, Ca are planning a soft opening for October 23rd. This is John Houck's first designed course in California.
