Desert Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 22, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course has great views and a surprising variety of shots, given the terrain. Lots of airspace to flex your arm, if that's your jam. Good baskets and pads... seems that several are in progress and will eventually be poured concrete. Lots of work has been done to clear some of the thicker brush in the landing areas... but still keep an eye on your disc!It seems like almost every hole is elevated above the scrub brush, which gives you an amazing view on nearly every shot. The front nine has been lined with yellow rocks to help you navigate between holes. This, again, seems like a work in progress... see other thoughts.

Cons:

It's a desert. Bring your leather boots and plenty of water. If it ever rains, probably best to stay off the course as I assume it would be muddy.

Other Thoughts:

Penning this review to help the first time course explorer like myself. When you get to the T intersection at the park, go to the left and look for the Aztec disc golf course sign at the edge of the paved lot. Park here and walk down the path to the first hole. Yellow rocks help navigate between holes for the most part. Important: after hole 9, go back to the parking area to find hole 10 pad which is near the small bathroom building. Look back up the hill for 10 basket. I am sure improvements will be made in regard to navigation but for now, 9-18 do not have the yellow rocks to follow. This is not a course for learners. We enjoyed the landscape and layout, but first time players will not learn to love disc golf if directed to start playing here.
