Pros:
Butch's Bunker DGC is a nice little niner located in Hickory Hill Park. The course features some decent elevation and enough trees to keep things interesting. Very small town that's not too close to anything so you'll probably have this one to yourself. There's not much else happening in the park either by the looks of it so you most likely won't even have to deal with other park goers.
The baskets are yellow banded and caged Latitude 64 pros. These are solid baskets. I had zero issues with these personally. I loved the yellow color of these. They really pop out from a distance. They catch good and were mounted properly. One basket and pin placement per hole. Very nice.
The tee signs here are pretty great. They're mounted on 4x4's and have all the important info on them. Hole #, par, distance, a nice looking hole map and a next tee arrow. There's even a QR code on them. I didn't scan one to see where it takes you since the signs got the job done perfectly fine anyway. Top of the line signage.
Natural tees, but none were muddy or rutted out. In fact all were in great shape. No complaints with these.
The course features a decent mix of different shot shapes needed for being only nine holes. Just a solid overall design in my opinion. They used some of the best features of the property, which is pretty small, to cut out a fun layout.
The course starts and ends by the parking area which is always nice. Free to play, permanent and very clean. This is just a really pretty part of WI in general.
Cons:
The rough on the last three holes can get pretty gnarly. Lots of prickly, sticky weeds off the sides of the fairways. The holes are shorter so you're probably not losing a disc or anything. You will be covered in burrs or other obnoxious things if you end up off the fairway.
There's three longer transitions on the course. Hole 2 to 3, 4 to 5 and 6 to 7. Even with the next tee arrows on the signs I'd advise having a map ready. Mildly annoying at most.
Hole 4 has a fence running the length of the right side. You don't want to end up over it or you're probably out a disc. It's private property over it.
Holes 5 and 6 play up and back down the entrance road. And I mean the road is part of the fairway kind of thing. Again, not a super busy park so if you're paying attention you should be good. Not ideal though.
Other Thoughts:
I enjoyed my round here. Pretty nice little course in a quiet little park. Very peaceful place to toss some plastic. Not worth any kind of trip out of the way to play, but definitely worth a stop if you happen to be near here. Great addition to the area. if I'm ever back down this way I'd play it again in a heartbeat.
