Pros:

Castle Rock DGC is located in Juneau county park on the southwest corner of the lake. It's a nine hole course with dual tees and multiple pin placements on every hole.

Well designed course for the area it's in. They did a good fitting 9 holes in here and keeping them away from other park activities. It said something on Udisc about them adding 9 more to this for an 18, and even an additional 9 holer. I don't think that's going to happen, but who knows.

The tee signs are on 4x4's with either a blue top (shorts) or white (longs). These make them easier to spot. There's a nice aerial view map of each hole on every sign. These have the distances to each pin location, show both pads, any OB and have a next tee arrow. Plenty good enough for a shorter 9 hole like this. Makes navigation a breeze.

The baskets are DISCatcher's, which are all in great shape and caught nicely. The yellow bands, as usual, make spotting them easy. Hole numbers on each band, facing the tee which is always nice.

Tee pads are natural, but marked with a 4x4 imbedded in the ground. No issues with these. They probably don't see too much play so the ground isn't all tore up yet.

The flow of the course is a little goofy in a couple spots, like 5 to 6 and 1 to 2. With the next tee arrows on the signs it's not too major though. They also have white and blue tape wrapped on the bar of the cage pointing to the next tee in case you forgot to look at the sign. So simple and effective. Love when courses have these.

The course is very moderately hilly and slightly wooded. There's enough trees to force you to hit a line on the majority of the holes. Especially 6,7 and 8. These are short but very tight.

The distances are all pretty short. Only hole 9 is over 300 feet I'd guess, and just barely. Hole 8 is the shortest at barely over 100 feet but tight with a protected pin.

Cons:

As I mentioned above, a few spots are a little tricky to find the next tee. The map on Udisc will get you around pretty well though. Not a major con but worth mentioning.

The mosquitoes were pretty crazy when we were there. The worst I've seen in quite awhile. Make sure to bring bug spray in the summer months.

5 dollars per car, per day to enter the park is pretty steep for a 9 hole course. We played it once and were only there 40 minutes max. Probably the most expensive 9 holer I've ever played.

A little bit backwards with the tee sign colors but you'll figure it out instantly. Just wierd having blues be shorter than whites.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a pleasant little surprise. I had actually forgotten about it. It's expensive for a single round but, would be a nice place to stop off and stretch the legs if travelling through on 94. Coupled with Mile Bluff in Mauston it's actually a couple really nice little courses in this area. Not a destination course obviously, but worth a spin or two if you're nearby.
