Pleasant Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a pretty and pleasant park course that winds around a recreation area. The course is very well maintained (my front lawn is not mowed this well!) The baskets, while a variety of makes, are new and permanently mounted in concrete bases.

Although a course map might be handy, it's actually very easy to navigate as long as you can find the first tee. (Hint: near the volleyball net right next to the horseshoe pits.) Each subsequent tee is within 20-30 paces of the previous basket.

Cons:

There are no tee pads, just a single short 4x4 post to mark the tee area. At this point this is not much of a con for me -- teeing off on flat even grass is fine. The course appears to get very little use currently, but if traffic picks up and the tees begin to wear it could become an issue.

Although the course is free to play, it'll cost $3 to park your car.

Other Thoughts:

The first three holes are typical park course holes. The basket is visible, and there are some obstacles or elevation to require some shot shaping and keep it interesting, but it is not too hard to stay out of trouble.

The middle three holes are wide open field shots. Grip and rip time! The only real danger is if you overthrow and go long of the basket into the rough.

Hole 7 is the first blind shot from the tee, a sweeping dogleg left.

Holes 8 and 9 are nice wooded holes, with a fair line but plenty of trees to punish poor throws.

So in all, there's a decent variety over the nine holes.

For beginners, this is an excellent place to learn disc golf and grow skills. Intermediate players should expect to get a lot of pars with little scoring separation unless you get a bad kick off a tree on hole 8 or 9. Advanced players should find this a good place to practice, and to see how many birdies they can ring up over nine holes.

Overall, I enjoyed my rounds at Charlotte. This is not a destination course, but with the shortage of places to play in the Burlington area, I'll take it!
