No water in the creek but there’s fun instead 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 26, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

• Easy to find
• Warm up basket next to #1
• Restrooms onsite
• New baskets
• Well maintained course
• Decent mix of shots for the size course it is
• Tees are in great shape even considering some are mixed concrete/rubber

Cons:

• No tee signs yet
• You may have to wait a little for the other park attendees
• Very criss-crossy. Do be careful.

Other Thoughts:

Tips:
• Check the course map and rules on the sign near #1 (UDisc helps)
• Careful not to throw at #8's basket when you're on #6. Note the mandos.

Random Thoughts:
Creekside Park is exactly that: a disc course near a creek in a park. It's a quite clever use of the unused terrain that surrounds a park and/or separates the park from the aforementioned creek. It's currently a 9 hole course (not sure if there are any plans to expand) where 6 of the 9 holes demand a fair amount of tight line/straight throwing precision. If you go too far off center, chances are good you'll either be OB or miss a mando. The good news is #1 gives you a chance to warm up with a ~250' wide open ace run. Then #2 shows up with a tight, low left to right shot through the trees with two mandos having you go right (for safety) to 1 of 2 basket positions. #3 is a very tight dead straight or up over the top shot. #4 gives you a breather with a 200' ace run, although don't be long as there's OB directly behind. #5 is fairly open straight ahead shot where you can finally let one fly. Just keep it in the middle or slightly left. #6 is a low/tight straight shot with mandos on the right and treachery (aka the creek) on the left. #7 is similar to #6 but with more trees to avoid up near the 1 of 2 basket positions. Do be aware of anyone teeing off on #8. Speaking of #8, this a straight ahead shot which narrows as you get closer to the basket due to the trees. After #8, head up the hill to the left where #9 has two elevated tees: one to the right, which presents a right to left shot over #1's fairway (again, be careful) with OB to the left, and one tee roughly straight ahead, which is nothing but OB for most of it's ~340' length. I advise coming in from right to left. There is a drop zone drawn on the white concrete divider (separating grass from dirt) in the middle of the hole on the right, should you miss the landing zone. For your second round (because you know you're going around again), there are some additional alternate tees out there that I saw groups playing but I'm not 100% sure where they are. There are some clues in the pics on UDisc, but you can always play the normal ones again, of course.

Bottom Line:
This is a very clever use of the unused land in this park, and a lot of time, love, and attention went into it, which is evidenced by the conditions of the course. While some might get frustrated with how tight it is and having to wait frequently for safe throwing conditions, the course itself presents some interesting challenges and with a little patience, is quite fun. Great job course crew!
