Pros:

This course has a good mix of short, moderate, and long holes.
There were a few dog leg L/R holes and water threat was present on a few holes.
This course uses the present elevation well.
Many of the holes have nice lines that need to be shaped in order to score well. Also there were a few low ceiling shots.
The longer holes will give you the opportunity to air out a few drives.
On holes 10-14 there were directional arrows to help guide you to the next tee.
The park is well kept and there were other amenities here like a playground, basketball court, rest rooms, etc.

Cons:

The long walk from 9's basket to 10's tee, 12's basket to 13's tee, and 14's basket to 15's tee were really long and slowed the flow of the round down.
The lack of signage, especially on holes 1-8 and 15-18 made navigation tricky at times.
The low lying areas on some holes can get spongy after a good rain.

Other Thoughts:

This is a good course that was getting some good play upon my visit. This course offers a good variety of shots and the discing is fun.
If they were to add some signage here I think it would help with the navigation issues greatly.
If you like a course that provides a park style feel and has a good challenge then this course will be right up your alley.

an old gem redeemed! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 25, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-the original 9 holes make a great layout, good use of the park and the water
-the new 9 holes provide a good variety of distances and lines, distinct from the original 9
-beautiful, well-maintained public park: clean, mowed
-lots of big mature pecan trees force you to find a line on a few holes
-trees provide good shade, new holes have fewer trees
-pond and a creek winding through come into play on several holes
-concrete teepads on the original 9, somewhat narrow
-good course for beginners but still has enough to offer to advanced players as well
-no underbrush, not likely to lose a disc unless you throw in the water
-adequate parking
-not crowded
-great, informative kiosk next to parking lot with a new map and mini info

Cons:

-no signs, but the hole numbers are built into the concrete teepads, no signs on the new holes
-above mentioned numbers in teepads are sometimes hard to read (plastic is cracked, etc)
-some of the concrete pads are short but even more noticeably they are narrow; not too bad on the shorter holes but there are some long holes here too. at least the pads are mostly flush with the ground
-no elevation changes

-the new holes after the redone redesign are much improved over the last design. the area across the creek is utilized and the space is used well to make some fun holes that have a different feel to them than the original 9 holes. still natural tees and no signs. holes 13 and 14 seem just kind of thrown in... the lines are awkward on 13 and 14 is just a huge bomber to get you back to the other side of the park.

Other Thoughts:

Thanks to those who sent me messages urging me to go check out the new new layout. It is a huge improvement.

Fritz is now an 18 hole course and the newest redesign has finally hit the mark. The new holes utilize the areas across the creek. The holes flow well, have a different feel from the other side of the park, and offer some fun shots. I especially like 10 & 11.

You can still play the old layout. Original holes 7 & 8 have been restored.

I always thought the 9 hole layout was special and I'm glad it is still intact but the new layout is good and stands on its own. The new holes add to the variety of the course in terms of distance, line shaping, and elevation. I wouldn't mind seeing 13 & 14 tweaked a bit but the course works great as it is now.
