Incredibly Dangerous Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 27, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course has nine holes with a different variety of length and looks on each of the holes. Being a city park, there is not a lot of trees, but the course definitely uses the trees to its advantage. Virtually every basket is guarded by at least two trees.

Hole 1 and hole 2 involve more finesse off the tee as they are in the more "wooded" part of the course.

The baskets are not official DisCatchers but they sure look and catch like a real one, which is nice. The foam tee pads are decent and not too worn down because of the seemingly lack of use of the course. The tee signs, faded from the pictures that are uploaded here, are helpful, though some of the holes still involve a run up the fairway to locate which group of trees the basket is guarded by.

Cons:

Every hole from hole 3 to hole 8 crosses with the walking trail or baseball field. If you check the pictures here on DGCR, look at hole 7 and all the people sitting in the fairway. That would not be a safe environment to throw in no matter how much you may disagree. Hole 6 has a playground that sits in the middle of the fairway as well.

Gentry is a small town and this being really the only park in town, there are going to be a lot of park goers in the park on nice days, which makes the disc golf course unplayable safely.

Other Thoughts:

I realize that my review is 1.5 disc less than the next lowest for the course, but it just seems hazardous to play on. I played on an evening with below freezing temperatures, so the crowds were not a problem. You could probably get away with playing this course if its cold or early in the morning.

It is important to remember that most people who go to parks have no idea what we are doing, what those "BBQ pits" are. Just be wary if playing the course.

The course is a fine city course, nothing too spectacular, but otherwise decent holes with a good variety of longer and shorter holes minus the safety concern.
