Pros:
• The course is challenging and blends lots of different holes from long fairways to short curves and over the top hammers.
• Once you find the holes, the course is designed really nicely
Cons:
• I have played the course many times, but took some time off disc golf. When I went back to Horsetown, I could not figure out the holes.
• This course has the worst blackberry brambles I have ever seen. I am not talking fields of berries a couple feet high, I am talking monster shrubs over 10' off the ground that are in the fairway. I have used plywood platforms like a boats to retrieve discs with a 10' stick. Makes a GREAT story later though!
• It has tones, not baskets
• The river makes a nice backdrop on one hole, but for the most part it feels like a devastated old mining area full of hardy oaks, blackberry, and poison oak.
• In the winter several holes can be under water.
Other Thoughts:
Despite my negative review, when I knew the course and played it at the right season (and had the skill to dodge blackberries), I really enjoyed this course. It's a locals course and as such fills a niche for Redding.
