Lake Showme is impressive 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 11, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is on the south side of Memphis Lake. The terrain is rolling hills, lightly wooded. Players who appreciate rural scenery will enjoy this course. The course is maintained by the City of Memphis. The baskets are blue Dynamic and are all in good condition. For each basket there are two concrete tee pads, and at each tee pad there is a sign that displays a map, par, and amount of feet. I found it easy to locate the next tee after each basket. The fairways were all mowed when I played. There is a variety of shots, with some being long distance open area shots, while others being through narrow wooded paths.

Cons:

The only con I considered is that there is a gravel road that runs along the southern border of the course, and a couple of baskets and fairways are close enough to the road that the player will have to deal with a cloud of dust if a vehicle happens to drive by. Other than that, there was nothing else about the course that I did not like.

Other Thoughts:

Memphis, Missouri is the county seat of Scotland County. The town of Memphis has a population of 1,822 and the population of Scotland County is fewer than 5,000. For a small town course, this course has an impressive layout and was well maintained. It was well worth the visit.

Excellent 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 5, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Long course that requires players to throw many different kinds of shots
-High quality DD tee signs and baskets
-Great teepads
-Gorgeous scenery
-The course feels private despite its public status, you can play an entire round without seeing another person in the area

Cons:

-Cons are few and far between for this course. Distance between baskets and the next tee would be the largest issue, but it is not that bad.
-Lack of trash cans and benches (Some may care about this more than most)

Other Thoughts:

This is an excellent course in a part of Missouri that does not have a lot of courses. Longer throwers will love this course, but newer players or those with less distance may become frustrated with the length of the holes.
This course offers plenty of challenge and is one that players will not get bored of quick.
Travis and Donny did a wonderful job!

Very Challenging 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 5, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Concrete tee pads, good detailed signage, will use full bag of shots, private setting, top notch baskets with flags, MASSIVE course with lots of walking.

Update:2020 added more logs for benches, about half the holes have seating. Short pads are scheduled to be installed. Alt pins will be going in

Cons:

Restrooms are an outhouse, water only available at the shelter house by hole 1 and campers might be hooked up during the weekends.

Other Thoughts:

Very large fun course that is in contrast to the beginner course in town at the Johnson Park. This will really challenge all your shots, your stamina, and at times your mental game. Elevation comes into play on about half of the holes. Several holes feature many risk/reward shots. Very scenic course, especially when the hay grounds are tall with the fairways tightly mowed.
