LeTourneau University DGC is a small college campus 9-holer that is quick to get to off the interstate. It's short but not overly so with a few holes over 250'. While largely open, it has just enough obstacles to prevent your shots from feeling meaningless: the occasional well-situated tree or pondside pin or sidewalk OB prevents the round from being a sleepwalk while still retaining an overall casual feel. The course does the trick of providing a good excuse to stretch your legs during a long slog on I-20.

The course is located along the campus' periphery, minimizing conflict with students and others seeking to give you the plague. Even so it's still conveniently located near what at least appeared to be free parking.

It's a small college course with apparently sporadic grooming and limited options for obstacles, which leads to some awkward or undesirable shots. Namely are the one or two "wooded" holes which consist of an unrealistic lane through scruffy trees bordered by impenetrable rough. Seriously, discs entering there are unlikely to find their way out: the associated shots are probably not worth the grief they court. The small pond isn't very threatening on the 2-3 holes involving it, but you may not want to bother here either and for the most casual players it also may not be worth the trouble.

The few remaining holes are at best about a mildly interesting tee shot that will likely result in either a birdie putt or a meaninglessly easy approach. Not much effort required, very little opportunity to separate poor, good, and great play and not much opportunity to cultivate skills in new players. It's the epitome of a casual course.

Navigation is fine enough, but the openness leads to a bit of confusion as to which basket belongs to what tee. The first few holes are a bit tucked away, so we found the middle to be easier to find than the start. Not a big deal, but not exactly easy or obvious.

We used this round to stretch our legs for 45 minutes while driving from Louisiana to camp in the Guadalupe Mountains: it was perfect for that. For folks in the more immediate area looking for regular rounds there are almost certainly better options.

-- Apparently, construction of a covered, outdoor basketball court took out the No 9 basket and the tee markers for Nos. 1 and 2.
-- Natural tees.
-- Grass is at least knee high. This might be a temporary COVID-related issue, but this appears to be an otherwise unused piece of land, so I would not be surprised if maintenance was poor.
-- Very few trees and basically no elevation.
-- No. 7 is across the street from the rest of the course, so you cross over after 6 and then return to that piece of land for No 8, where the sign is missing so you only have an empty post.

-- The previously mentioned outdoor basketball court is a real issue. The court doesn't cover the area where the No. 9 basket would have been, but it would have been close. The tee markers for Nos. 1 and 2 likely were within the area that is now the basketball court. You can still play, however. Pick your tee areas on either side of the basketball court for Nos. 1 and 2. Use the No. 1 basket for No. 9. It makes a longer hole on the only water carry on the course.
-- Course is really intended for faculty and students at the school, but they welcome visitors during normal times. In the COVID era, they are "discouraging" visitors.

Your typical University course, not too hard, but at least it was not a pitch and putt.

The course is located next to the athletic fields and most of the course is only disc golf. The first hole and last hole are next to the pond that might have students hanging around. But other than that, your not going to have to worry about students on the fairways.

Decent course to practice on, would be a good course to test out a new disc. Good course for rec players, although hole 9 does throw across the pond. A new weak armed player might have trouble throwing that one.

Would I play here again? Not really, there are much better courses in the area. This one is just for baggers like me. It is not meant for non students.
