A very different course for Western Montana! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 13, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Flatter and more open than other local courses, which lets players work on rollers (until the snow flies) and practice in windy conditions etc.

Easy to navigate, and very cart friendly.

Pretty location on a golf course with a couple of ponds providing water hazards until they freeze over.

Parking, food, beer, restrooms etc. all available since the on-site cafe is open year 'round.

Cons:

Canada geese hang out here, so goose poop is everywhere on some holes.

Most tee boxes are just marked spots on the golf course rough or fairways. A couple are on paved cart paths, but most are natural.

Tee boxes can be hard to find if the snow gets deep. They are not cleared unless local players do so.

No elevation changes to speak of.

Other Thoughts:

Linda Vista adds some nice variety to the local course scene. Until snow gets deep, it is an easy walk around a golf course and lets players throw their preferred shot type on many holes.

For the 2018-19 season, about half of the holes have a short and a long tee pad. From the shorts, par is straight-up 54, from the longs, par is 57 with #3, 11, & 18 becoming par 4s.

Memorable holes include:

#4 - a longish water carry to a tight green protected by both the water and OB
#8 - a tight tunnel shot with a big penalty for missing either right or left
#9 - plays over water to an island green
#11 long - a par 4 which plays to a tree protected green just past another pond

Once the snow gets deep, the course is still fun, but becomes a totally different challenge. No more rollers, and you'll have to have ribbons on your discs so distance is reduced. Still, it's great to have a local course you can play in snowy/icy conditions without having to deal with slick trails and cliffs etc.
