Lone Star Elementary

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

-- Six Innova baskets that play around the edge of an elementary school campus. I'm sure the course is intended for the students, and in that regard the hole lengths are appropriate. Only one hole is longer than 250 feet, and three are shorter than 200 feet. Course is completely flat. There are a few trees, and they are well used.
-- Holes 3 and 4 play in the 50-foot wide strip of ground between the road and the driveway in front of the school. They make good use of a few guardian trees.

Cons:

-- While the hole lengths are appropriate for the target audience, the accuracy requirements are not. Three holes play way too close to buildings and/or driveways and parking lots. Hole 1 is 279 feet RHBH hyzer. The flight path is almost completely over a driveway and parking area on the side of the school. Hole 5 is 246 feet RHBH hyzer and looks nice, but the basket sits 35 feet on the other size of a chain-link fence – there is a gate -- and 20 feet from the building. Six is 151 feet RHFH blind (or close to it, depending on how close to basket 5 you stand to tee) around the corner of a building.
-- No tee pads marked. Basically play basket to basket.
-- No restrooms.
-- No water.
-- No practice basket.
-- No map.
-- No tee signs.

Other Thoughts:

-- A map exists on the app whose name we shall not speak, but the hole numbers are different. Hole 1 at the course is Hole 5 on that map, and Hole 2 at the course is Hole 6 on the map. You've got a long walk either way, but using the hole numbers on site makes it easier to play basket to basket because you end on the opposite side of the building from where you started rather than having to make that long walk from 4 to 5 and figure out where to tee from.
-- I played around 5:30 p.m. on a July weekday, and there were still people at the school. Finding a time when the parking lots are completely empty might be difficult.
