Pros:
- Nice to have another course in the area.
- Situated in a nice, clean park with lots of mature trees over much of the course. The park also has two train displays, a diner car and a caboose, which add a nice atmosphere to the play. Holes 1 and 2 play around those.
- New baskets
- Good signage with distance listed and short description of holes. Signs are easy to find except tee 5.
- Holes 1-4 are well situated and intuitive and once we found hole 5, the other holes were easy to find as well.
Cons:
- Odd layout of a few holes creates a lot of walking, which could be remedied by a few adjustments.
- Hole 5 is a long walk from hole 4 and there's nothing to direct a player to hole 5. Hint: If you park next to hole 1, turn around facing north and you'll see hole 5, hole 4 is clear across a field a hundred yards away.
- Hole 8 basket is a long ways from both hole 9 and the parking lot.
- Hole 9 tee is at the parking lot and plays away from the car, which causes a player to have to walk back to the parking lot.
Other Thoughts:
- Recommend moving tee 5 right next to basket 4, and place basket 5 near basket 3. This will eliminate the long walk to tee 5.
- Recommend making tee 6 directly across Park road and change basket 5 to basket 6. This would make a shorter hole where 5 is currently located.
- Then re-number 6-8 as 7-9.
- Remove the current hole 9 or move it close to the area of hole 8 and make this a 10 hole course.
- With all the space in the fields near the historical buildings, a few more holes could easily be added.
- My friend and I agreed we would tee off for hole 5 from near basket 4. It makes for a really long hole and crosses a road, but it sure would make the course layout more smooth.
- The course plays like two separate courses. Holes 1-4 and 9 are under trees in the main area of the park, while 5 goes near a maintenance shed and holes 6-8 play in an open field around some nice historical buildings.
