Fun for all skill levels 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Impossible to lose a disc
- Nice scenery
- Never too busy
- Great for any skill level
- Each hole has different challenges

Cons:

- Not a ton of elevation change for most holes
- Very few trees, so the wind can really carry a disc if you're not careful
- Non of the holes are marked other than a tee pad

Other Thoughts:

This is easily my favorite course as it is very forgiving and can be fun to play with a group of varying skill levels. Even though there's no signage it's not hard to find any tee pads except for number 6 (just cross the road and you'll see it). The course is otherwise in very good shape since it's on a college campus!

Great for beginners 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 1, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great open course for beginners and those still learning the sport. Not many trouble spots where you could lose a disc but at the same time not very challenging. Hole 10 may be my favorite hole to play in all of OKC. Tee box is on a hill and you can really let it rip. Generally not very busy, people tend to be very nice.

Cons:

Very little length on this course BUT that forces you to really learn your discs and distances and work discs you might not normally use. Almost a perfect 1 or 2 disc course. This course holds water like no other place I've played - wear crappy shoes if it rained at all in the full week prior to play. Lack of trees means even a moderate wind (which is often in Oklahoma) can play havoc with discs.

Other Thoughts:

I live close so I play this course regularly. It's really helped my skill level and I can go all out on each of the holes without worry of losing a disc (which happens to me about every other round when I play elsewhere). Great for beginners I could see how it would quickly become boring though, especially with some of the great other local options.

Great for quick round 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 18, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great practice course and beginner/novice course. 40 minutes to play. Always nice people out playing. Never been crowded. It's 12 holes, not 9. Great for night golf. Long concrete tee pads on every hole. Nice disc catcher baskets. Nice mix of obstacles and elevation changes.

Cons:

gets a little swampy after rain. It would be nice to add 6 more holes to the west of the basket on hole 6, but whatever.

Other Thoughts:

Check it out if you're in the area. Not a bad little course.

Nice Quick Nine 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 21, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good concrete tees
Great tee signs with layout/next tee arrows
Great baskets
Good shot shaping, mature trees
Uses a few different shots
Great to work on midranges/fairway drivers
Ace and birdie chances easy pars
Very quick round, play two
Decent use of the land/terrain available
A few other players, not crowded
Great to take family/newbies
A little elevation change
Bathrooms/water fountain close
A few benches/trashcans
Pretty course
Plenty of parking
Well kept

Favorite Hole(s): #6, #8

Cons:

Kind of short (not too bad)
Not a whole lot of challenge
Crosses a walking path a few times (no big deal)
Several available shots not used (awesome hiil shots)
Not many benches/trashcans (NBD)
Some tees are a little close to previous basket
Not many cons just a nice little course

Other Thoughts:

This course is definately worth a quick round or two if you are in the area and want a change of pace. The land/terrain would be a good 12-15 hole course if everyone weren't so set on having 9 or 18 holes. If you play safari you can have some signature holes in a couple of places.

Swing by if you're in Edmond or passing through for a good quick round. It shouldn't take more than 45 minutes if that. Not worth a long trip or a must play but worth a stop.

My "disc rating" is weighted heavily toward fun factor which this course has enough of.

Nice nine hole 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Like new baskets
-Concrete tee pads
-Signs at each hole
-Great for beginners
-Wide open fairways
-Well Manicured

Cons:

-Sometimes players are a little slow, but most of them are really nice so they will either let you play through or throw with them
-Not difficult at all
-Have to throw over a fairly busy road on campus
-The Cross Country Runners and the soft ball field use the course for running as well as parking

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice course to balance Edmond out with Tye F. Cunningham just a few miles north. This is a Christian School so act accordingly. Also They have recently installed a basket next to tee pad #1 so you can play backwards from basket to basket to make an eighteen hole course.

perfect for what it is 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 23, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-nice discatchers, concrete tees, and signs
-straight-forward shots: mostly open, few obstacles save some trees
-easy to navigate
-well-manicured, grass mowed
-very clean, little trash (keep it that way!)
-great place to bring beginners or if you live nearby & need a quick round
-safari golf works great here, especially if you have the place to yourself

Cons:

-tees are a little narrow, no biggie
-very open, quite exposed to the wind
-hole 9 is not so close to the parking lot, play some holes backwards on your way back
-mostly open, mostly short, little challenge for the experienced player

Other Thoughts:

I really wish that my college had a disc golf course on campus. These college courses are perfect for introducing people to the game and make for a great place to stop and get a quick round in if you are nearby or live in the area.

Has all the basic amenities: concrete, signs, nice discatchers. Most shots are straight and open, not much challenge other than the wind and no line shaping required.

Not much to say, solid but nothing special. I had fun playing the course backwards on my way back to the parking lot.

Nice 12-ish Hole Challenge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 16, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well maintained with concrete tees, some moderate shot variety. Innova Disccatcher baskets in good condition (rust on a few chains but nothing awful). Course is somewhat lefty-heavy, but that is a refreshing change considering some of the courses in the metro. Still, many lines to be had on most holes and you can challenge yourself try some of the not obvious ones. Have never seen roving bands of players on the course so it doesn't appear to be in the "too popular/busy" category. There's a little elevation in play, mostly on 9 and 10 (up hill, down hill). I like the incorporation of the stones on 6 and 8 and the 'signature' tree on 5.

Cons:

Distance isn't a feature of this course though there are a couple of 300+ holes and one 370+ hole. Some sub-200 ft holes won't challenge experienced players. Other than the above mentioned holes there's very little elevation change of not, but makes use of what it has, especially around the pins. Hole 6 and 7 play over and around a sidewalk, pavilion, and parking lot just north of a dorm. Could be problematic during school hours. Number 8 finishes close to a parking lot and number 11 runs along the walking track but it shouldn't be in your flightpath unless griplock happens. No water to speak of other than the casual variety. A few tees are just a little close to the previous pins and if there was more traffic on the course, you could see a bit of a problem creep up from raining plastic.

Other Thoughts:

A fun, quick 12-hole course on the north side of the town. Feels a lot like Will Rogers with the open, wind-friendly fairways and some trees that just seem to be in the right place, but with much less trash and traffic. Course wasn't busy on a Saturday during the school year but you still need to be aware of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in couple of places. All that said, it's a fun course that gives ample opportunity to work on your mid game, upshots and putting. The long downhill #10 encourages you to empty your bag and work on your drives, especially for varying wind conditions. I recommend playing this course for a good warm-up before heading to Tye F. Cunningham in Edmond.

Great metro course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 1, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Course is very trimmed and well kept. Tees are now concrete with signs that have yardage and a map of the hole. During the summer the course is not busy. The course is very easy to follow. A great course for begginers and intermediates alike, while also offering some practice for experts

Cons:

The course offers a slight adv. to lefties. Also the course has only 9 designated tees. Lots of great possible tees are un-utilized.

Other Thoughts:

Keep in mind that the campus is a tobbaco-free christian campus. And as of this summer, the school now has full time police officers that patrol the area: they can and will arrest you.

If you want to do more than nine holes: after completing the 9th hole, walk south between the two buildings to the concrete sidewalk where two sidewalks merge and tee off from there. After that just play from hole to hole all the way back

don't waste time, make your own course 2+ years drive by

Fun course for safari golf, not much else

-nice open plot of land with trees- no lost discs
-trees shape the course
-brand new baskets
-almost always have the course to yourself
-can mold your own course(s) look at back of signs for "oxy christian" 19 holes- way tougher WAY funner
-this course should and could be the shiz

Cons:

-theres a huge friggin hill and no designated tee up there...WTF yo?! utilize what you got around you for fuc* sake...(as mentioned "oxy christian" 19 holes throws #7 off the hill, and # 14 throws opposite off hill to #3 basket-go on get ya some!)
-the designated tees are uber short
-many of the holes seem to be designed with little consideration of what's around them- disregarded lines left and right up and down
-seems like they threw a course in with no input
-bitter old man teaching softball will park his car on hole 6 then bitch when you hit it- all bark no bite

Other Thoughts:

Fun for safari...............................................................

this course is great to go out and work on your game as long as you stray from the designated course
-the 19 hole course would be a 3.5- 4.0, sadly

Give this course a try 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 26, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course has recently been finished out and the previous negative reviews don't reflect this. Concrete teepads have been installed, signs with yardage are now on every hole as well.

While this is a short course at only 9 holes, it is probably the most well-maintained course in the metro area. The grass is always cut, the trees are always maintained, and the baskets are virtually brand new. The course isn't terribly long (there's really only one hole that will test your arm) but many holes have obstacles you'll need to shoot around and you will need to be well-versed in both backhand, anhyzer and sidearm shots to succeed. Not the hardest course, but still fun.

Cons:

I really wish this was an 18 hole course. Unfortunately the campus land its built on simply won't accommodate it. The course is a little bit favorable to lefties but its never so much so that righties can't have fun. The last two holes play through an edge of campus where footpaths and benches are in the line of fire. This means you need to be careful on these holes but, generally, I haven't seen many people in these areas when I've been playing

Other Thoughts:

Definitely worth taking a look at. Don't let the previous negative reviews sway you. Despite being a 9 hole course, its very well kept and quite a bit of fun.

No longer a waste of time. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 19, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is obviously a recently retooled course.

The holes have been reordered from what is depicted on the course homepage.

The baskets are new and every hole will soon have a concrete tee pad, as evidenced by the frames at every hole. The grass areas around the tees are flat and level and provide a good temporary tee surface.

The course was easy to navigate, played well and took advantage of the tree lines to create some challenges.

The campus is trimmed and manicured and makes for a visually appealing course.

Cons:

Currently the teepads are incomplete but they will be concrete soon.

There are absolutely no signs at all, but I think that's probably a temporary condition as well. If you take advantage of the course map I uploaded, you won't have any trouble at all navigating this course.

Other Thoughts:

I think any previous negative reviews should be reconsidered. It isn't an overly challenging course, but it's certainly not boring either.

All in all this was a pretty decent little course. It's a great addition to a school for student recreation and something I think their student government association will eventually rightly be proud of.

If you're looking to add another course to your total, I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Pros:

1st hole is great. Nice concrete tee, pick out your line, great hole. 2 is the same, it's got some overhanging trees that you have to throw just under to reach the hole.

Cons:

The rest of the course is not marked, and there are no tees. You just have to find a basket and pick a place to throw from.

Other Thoughts:

Don't waste your time. It's more frustrating than fun. I hope they keep working on it, it could be a cool short nine.

Decent course, nice setting 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 5, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Not crowded at all. Being on a christian school campus, you don't have to worry about run-ins with drunks. The number 6 hole is awesome, just be careful getting up to the tee area.

Cons:

Tee boxes aren't poured yet. Hole 1 and hole 9 are a long ways away from each other, making it necessary to have 2 people so you can park on either end of it. No facilities available to non-students/faculty. Unmarked. Multiple street crossings.

Other Thoughts:

Currently there is construction going on where holes 8 & 9 used to be, so the course is currently incomplete.

Pros:

Very fun little course. It uses the terrain and trees available very well to add some challenge. Beautiful setting on a nice campus. Great place to practice using midranges and controlled drives. There is no opportunity to lose a disc. Being a 9 holer you could finish it withing half an hour.

Cons:

Holes are short and are not very challenging. Tee-pads are dirt as they were not able to pour the concrete before the winter set in. Concrete pads should be coming soon, as well as signs and hole lengths. Holes 8 and 9 are hard to find, the are across the road in the open area to the west. The course ends in a different area than it starts, leaving a walk back to the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun course on a pleasant campus. Make sure to be respectful as this is a christian university. It won't be much of a challenge for skilled players but if you are in the OKC area and have some extra time it is a worthwhile stop.
