Poor 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It's something for the students to do and beginner friendly

Cons:

The course is just awful they just forced it on to the campus. It doesn't even rap back around to hole one so you have to walk all the way back across campus when you are done. You have to be careful if you are playing during the school year to not hit anyone or cars. Hole 2,3,5,6,and 9 are just very poor holes. The tee signs are terrible and don't help at all. The tee pads are literally right beside the basket so if you are playing behind someone you have to wait for them to tee off before you can.

Nice little par three. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 19, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Close to my home. Signs make it easy to find starting locations.

Cons:

One hole you have to throw over a parking lot. Hope no cars are there when you play.

Other Thoughts:

Go to the farthest entrance into the campus. I parked where I wasn't suppose to.

Fun course, bad layout design 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 7, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Perfectly manicured grounds - all grass was cut very nicely uniform and short, very lush area

Very nice DGA Mach III's, with the deeper cages, all looked brand new and caught fine

Signage with hole map and distance

Very nice variation in elevation, and distances. While you won't be chucking any anny flex bombs, you can still rip out the driver on hole one, and then it's a mix between putter tosses and mid throws off the tee.

Nice use of trees - baskets were tucked between trees, through thick tree lines, around corners, and in the case of hole 4 (signature hole), among tall, towering trees spaced neatly to make a gorgeous green, at the bottom of a steep downslope

Cons:

Hole 2 - hole 2, if I could give individual hole reviews, would get a zero out of five. Yes a ZERO - and I do not say that lightly. The hole is a blatant safety hazard that feels like mini golf disc golf, due to the "obstacles" - you tee off from the soccer fields (more on that in a moment), shoot over a brick wall, over a dumpster over and around the PARKING LOT, and finish right, around one of the school buildings. First, it's not cool to have a missed shot go into the friggin' dumpster (didn't happen to me, but can easily see this occuring), and then there's the fact that you can't play if there's people parked, and if you do you risk cranking there cars with discs..... plus buildings and random brick walls don't make good obstacles.... then of course it is a super blind shot and who knows who could get hit.

Holes 1 and 2 play across and along soccer fields - if you come to the course on a practice day or something, you're SOL.

The teeing areas are just grass, assumingly to be played from right by the sign. The signs for every hole are all within 10 feet of the last basket, which means waiting on groups in front of you for longer, and the obvious safety hazard

Difficult to find, even with directions provided on here, it can be quite confusing.

Other Thoughts:

I found a lot of variety and fun factor here for just being basically a pitch and putt. I LOVED hole 4, just so much fun tossing a putter down the steep slope, and hoping to sneak through the beautiful trees on the green. Open shots and some with some windows to hit and low ceilings mix things up a bit. Plus the nice baskets and perfect grounds add to the experience.

It's truly a bummer that hole 2 is soooooo bad, and that basic safety features have been overlooked, otherwise I think this course would have got a 3 from me (for a niner). BUT even with the bad safety issues, I just couldn't give it a 1 or 1.5. The course is super pretty and a fun place to be to run some aces, throw some unique holes, and warm up for the nearby Deer Lakes. I would reccomend people try this course out, if not for anything more than just to bag it. Just beware of what I have mentioned.

Short game kinda course. 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 10, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

1. Well maintained course being on campus.
2. Not far from other disc golf courses in the area.
3. Fun short round

Cons:

These are my opinions on the problems I see with this course:
Hole #1 plays over a practice soccer field so I'm not sure how that will interfere with the course when this field is being utilized. On hole #2 you play over a back parking lot that then dog-legs right, around a shorter building. If the wind is bad the day you're playing your "FAVORITE" disc may end up on the shorter buildings roof of said building...(like mine did :-|) The parking lot situation could be a problem if there are cars in the parking lot. Also the signs for every hole/tee pads are only 5 feet away from the basket of the previous hole throughout play. This will slow down play on a busy day since anyone playing behind you will have to wait to tee off so they don't hit you. Once you finish hole #9 it's a long walk back to your car if you parked right near hole #1.

Other Thoughts:

I don't want to sound to negative about having a lot more cons than pros. Overall, I think the people who put the time and effort into this course did a good job with the space given and had some good intentions, but... lacked some understanding of the importance of how a disc golf course is set up. This course has potential if some of the flaws are changed especially tee boxes being to close to previous baskets for safety reasons. It would be nice to see designated tee boxes installed. This course is and only ever will be practice for most people's short game. This course has a Schenley Park kind of short hole play mixed with the feel of a shorter Slippery Rock kind of vibe being on a campus.
