confusing fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 20, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Park is generally clean. Any disc golf is better than no disc golf.

Cons:

Course is in rough shape. Tee signs are badly grafitti'd. Layout is confusing. Played the six I could find and then realized that there were 3 more on the other side of the pavillion. Not sure if I got the numbers right or played in the proper order.

Other Thoughts:

Nice use of trees on the "front six". some niceer distance on the back 3. As long as you are out for some fun, you will find it here, but many courses are a bit nicer, overall. ignore the tee signs and just spot a basket and go for it. You will have fun. Maybe this is a good way to make a positive out of a negative... every time you play, just pick a basket and go for it. This will work if there are not others out playing when you are here. Hard to track your progress as each time the distances will be different... but, hey, find your fun.

Nice day out in the sun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 21, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

I heard from one of the locals they recently redesigned the course. Even with the redesign very easy to follow. Holes 6 thru 9 are a bit farther out then the first 5. Nice big concrete pads/signs need a little work due to the redesign. Very good beginner course, very open, very flat. Enjoyable, quick play for the Am and Pro. Bathrooms and concession stand by hole 1. always a plus!

Cons:

Very flat, after a few times thru a little boring. One of the locals told me since they had to cut alot of trees down due to infestation it has made the course much more open and not as "tight and accurate" as it once was.

Other Thoughts:

All in all the course is not bad and easy to follow. Its good to have courses like this in the area to get more people involved in the sport. I would ask for something a little more challenaging but with the facilities they have, the layout, and the people it is a nice afternoon play if you can't get out to a big course.

beginners only 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good beginner course with several straight and slight doglegs (although open enough to make your own routes). Can't get into any trouble on this course. Plays quick and easy, fun.

Cons:

Tough to navigate- 28 years old and with a recent re-design and re-numbering of the holes.
Only 6 of 9 holes actually had cement tees.

Other Thoughts:

It had been 10 years since I played it last.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course is short but provides for a variety of different shots. Lots of birdie opportunities/Ace Runs. The new layout has made this course less of a "shooting gallery" and requires some more skilled shots.

Cons:

The new holes don't have teepads but the holes that have been eliminated do making it confusing for new players to the course. Holes 7 and 8 are almost completely underwater at times. Can get crowded at times with two many casual players.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a pretty fun course.

Pros:

BIG cement tees. Great course of beginners or if you wann brush up on your short game.

Cons:

Emerald ash borers basically ruind this course. The city was forced to cut down a 1/3 of the trees because of infestation.

Other Thoughts:

The first course i ever played and i got my first ace on hole #7

Not to far from work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 15, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

--I've played this course both before and after it was redesigned, and its way better now than it used to be. Before, the course was crammed in a similar area, but now it utilizes more of the park and makes for a more enjoyable/longer round.

--The tee pads here are honestly the best i've ever thrown on! People can go ahead and say there bigger than needed, but I would prefer these to be at every course. You haven't seen different throwing line options until you play on tees this big! lol.

Cons:

--Besides the obvious 9 holes, this course is a little plain. I don't blame the course designer at all either. Its just that this land is so limited on what you can do, you wouldn't really be able to make a signature hole anywhere on this property.

--Land is just as important as design, and the lack of property/options here is the one thing holding this course down.

Other Thoughts:

--The layout here pretty much consists of medium to shorter distance holes, with random mature trees, and decent tee/pin placement.

-- Not to many hazards here at all, there not really any thick brush to be found. The only water hazards are the low lying fields after it rains. But theres really no way to lose a disc here.

--I personally like this course better than both Starr and Wagner in the area. Others probably wouldn't agree though.

Other Thoughts:

I used to pay this years ago when I started and now I only play it when the Ace Race comes around.

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 19, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

its close its easy its all there is to it

Cons:

graffiti like previously stated and the new path they put in comes into effect on most of the holes it took us fifteen minutes to play hole six which is missing a basket. and you have to be on the lookout for stray discs all the time due to the fact that its such a small course

Other Thoughts:

great to bring your kids to and for them to get a good feel for it and not be do discouraged

Past its prime, but playable 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 7, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Has spacious tee pads, with all of the tees well labeled. Most of the baskets are numbered, and navigating the course is quite easy. The park itself is convenient to get to, free to enter, and has usable restroom facilities.

Cons:

The course was built during a by - gone era, and not up to modern design standards regarding the use of space. Holes are on the short side, too close together and too close to parts of the park used for other things. Graffiti is on all the signs. And as has been noted twice: TWO BASKETS ARE MISSING! This last fact makes me wonder if the integrity of the course is a priority or an afterthought to those who are in charge of it...

Other Thoughts:

Seems like this could be a good course for beginners to learn or more advanced players to go on ace runs. It really doesn't seem suitable to play a proper round here, though, especially with other better courses within easy driving distance.

good 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 16, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

THE RENOVATIONS ARE ALMOST COMPLETE. THE NEW LAYOUT MAKES THE COURSE .5 BETTER THAN BEFORE.(the old hole 2 [new hole 4] is put in a trickier position for more fun :D)
-very fun course. not challenging but every hole is an ace run.
-easy to play a couple rounds.
-better for new players

Cons:

-2 baskets missing(THEY GOT REPLACED!!!)
-there is a picnic area and people often take up two of the holes (two without baskets) with their own picnic games
-bike path going through holes 4,5,6(MOVED THE HOLES FURTHER BACK SO THEY NO LONGER PLAY OVER A BIKE PATH)

Other Thoughts:

nice and large tee pads.
- good neighborhood course. but not a place to travel 15+ minutes to.
- i think the DPW took holes 6 and 7 off because people do interfere with those two holes

2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 20, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Great for beginners/intermediate players.
Most holes long enough to allow for a full drive and be to the basket with drive alone or one approach.
Nice big tees
Tree's offer shade from sun

Cons:

Baskets for holes 6 and 7 were missing.
A few holes were laid next to each so that multiple parties might interfere with each other's play.
Grafitti on most of the signs.

Other Thoughts:

Very flat course, may be heavily wooded, but not too difficult to navigate disc through trees.

About half the trees have been cut down due to problems with emerald ash borers, course is much less wooded than it appears in pictures

Short holes, only 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great course for beginners or young children, or for a quick round on a short lunch if you're nearby.
