(RHBH) Hyzer-Newb Rollercoaster

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 3, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Easy navigation, fairly compact. If soccer field not in use, prime area for warmup

Cons:

Single (natural) tee, single basket. If soccer field in use, prime area for left-fading shots.

Other Thoughts:

Bring your RHBH newb friends here so that they can experience The Thrill of Victory, and The Agony of Defeat.

If laser-beam / pinball, albeit short, #1 doesn't dissuade them, and they also continue on after low tunnel/funnel #2, then a sense of relief will be experienced on open, slightly upslope #3, and open (except for an early tree to go under, or around), slightly downslope #4, both in the ~250' range.

Wide-open, downhill, around slope #5 will be in range of those who were a bit short on 3/4, and both #'s 6&7 are within birdy, even ace range, of left-fading shots, as long as generous tree-formed windows are hit.

With the game (seemingly) becoming easier as one plays 3->7, one's system is in for a bit of shock when facing RIGHT-turning, tree-laden #8. Ending hole #9 doubles-down on the potential pain, as it is much longer (~350') than any previous hole, and has an out-of-bounds path (and soccer field) the entire length of the fairway's leftside. Stray too far right, and find bushes, trees, and brush.

Enjoy the ride.

The Start of Something Decent

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 12, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

REVISED LAYOUT HAS REMOVED THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ORIGINAL #1 and #9

+ Designers have put together a clever layout bringing in elevation, mixing woods and open

+ Hole #1 is a shorty, but features a very narrow gap through woods and across a gully

+ At 260', Hole #2 isn't the longest of the 9, but it's a slight uphill straight shot with a fairway that narrows into a protected green. It's a nice hole that rewards precision with a birdie look

+ New Prodigy baskets

Cons:

- Public multiuse park with walking trails that interest with a few holes. Probably gonna be hold ups onbusy days

- Hoping that permanent tees and signage are in the plans now that the layout has been fixed

Other Thoughts:

~ Plastic clips on top of some of the baskets indicating the direction of the next tee

~ Natural tees, no signage. There are short 4x4 posts in the ground to mark the tee areas. Since the course is only a year old, there might be plans to add signs

~ It's a short park course, but it has some pretty holes that show promise. Hole #9 is the long one, and it's worth multiple plays: 345' with some trees affecting the lines you can throw, and deep rough all along the right side with a fairway slanting down toward the rough. The basket is tucked in on the right, so it calls out for a RHFH or turnover - but anything that's too high or too fast risks ending up in the deep rough

~ Overall, a short park nine that could be a pleasant and interesting play - once it's finished

New nine in Bel Air 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 11, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

The biggest pro is that it's a new course, that's always a good thing. It's crazy but you feel like you're throwing downhill more than you're throwing up hill. Nice directional arrows on the top of the baskets.

Cons:

No rhyme or reason to the direction that the tee box posts point. Turning them so the angle of the top of the post points towards the basket with the hole number facing you would be helpful. A few do have a number. There's a creek you have to jump over on #4, I didn't see a bridge, or even the remnants of a bridge. Walking paths about, so watch for pedestrians.

Other Thoughts:

As of April 11, 2022, baskets have been removed from #1 and #9 to be relocated, as stated on udisc. #1 is (at least for now) between the porta pots and 3rd base on diamond #1. #1 hole is a fun downhill hyzer shot to get warmed up on, basket or no basket. #2 is a Plinko shot through the trees, seriously a prayer shot. #3 runs along the edge of the woods, with a dead end walking path that crests over a small hill making for a blind shot if someone is walking on it. #4 is downhill into the woods, with the creek you have to jump over - it's maybe a 4 foot jump with a nice splatter of mud waiting for you on the other side. #5 and #6 are an early release away from someone's yard, or road - respectively. #7 is an open field shot with an imposing tree for the righty to contend with. #8 is downhill and wide open. It's a bit of a walk to where #9 used to be, putting you back at the parking lot. I'm personally looking forward to see how this course develops.
