Great Wooded Course

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 15, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

- two very different tees. I played the white tees which were fun and appropriate for amateur players. The blue tees seemed like they would be challenging for even the best of players
- the course had really nice new prodigy baskets at every hole.
- my father said the bathrooms on the way to hole one were the best bathrooms he has ever seen on a disc golf course.
- the directional signage was very good. They had directions to the next tee either on the sign at the tee or colored arrows on trees near the basket directing you to the next tee. The signs were colored to distinguish between blue and white. We were playing for the first time and only got mixed up once. Also there was a kiosk at the beginning of the course with a nice detailed map of the whole course that you could take pictures of and bring with you.
- there were very nice colored tee signs at the blue and the white tees. The tees were carpet and flat. There were no stumps or roots under them. They were great in the dry conditions when we were playing our round. The tees could be a problem in wet conditions.
- each hole was fun to play and seemed unique. There were downhill holes, uphill holes! Holes over canyons, holes you have to throw between trees. There will be a chance to throw every disc in your bag ( unless you carry 10 discs or more)
- even though it is a mostly wooded course every hole seemed fair. There was a decent line to the basket on every hole.
- there wasn't any long walks to the next whole. Hole 18 ended right back by the parking lot.

Cons:

- I was fortunate to play the course in July. It could be a mess from February to May due to water.
- no cement tee pads. Although I did appreciate the flatness of the tees and lack of stumps and roots.
- because it is so wooded, som players may miss the opportunity to really launch a disc. Control is really required on every hole which is not really a con.
- some of the holes you had to walk down the fairway to get to the next tee. I especially remember this on hole 16.
- some of the holes can be disc eaters. We looked for a half an hour on hole 3 to find a disc. We found it and someone else's which we able to return. That same game we ran into a solo player who had just lost a disc on the same whole. Keep your eyes out for your discs

Other Thoughts:

I try to play every new course in western NY and have been disappointed many times. It was very nice to play a new course I had not heard much about and run into a gem of a course like this one. It also has great location being nestled right between Rochester and Buffalo. I really enjoyed playing this course and will be back at some point for sure.
